A. J. C. Taylor Dies From Pneumonia
A. J. C. Taylor died at the home of his brother, S. W. Taylor, eight miles east of this city at noon, Monday, March 19th from pneumonia, he was 38. He is survived by four brothers, Marion D. K. Taylor of Smithland, S. W., Hill and Flem Taylor at the old home place, two sisters, Mrs. Irby Tracy of Detroit, Michigan and Mrs. Lois Stone near Linden. The family has lost a mother, sister and now a brother in a little over a year, all of whom are buried in the old family Taylor Cemetery. The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the family graveyard and conducted by Rev. L. F. Brothers of this city.

Henry Taylor Dies
Mr. Henry C. Taylor, at 9:20 Friday morning, June 16th, 1905 passed away, he was stricken with paralysis, about eighteen months ago, whereas he had slightly recovered. Dr. A. A. Terhune and Dr. A. G. Clopton attended Mr. Taylor in his illness, but his disease baffled the skills of the physicians. Mr. Taylor was born near Summerville, Georgia on 17th May 1840. He cast in his lot with the ill-fated south during the long struggle from ’61 to ’65 and followed the Southern cause to defeat. After the war he removed to the state of Texas and located in the town of Jefferson, where he has resided ever since. He was married in 1892 to Miss Sara Terhune, on June 10th, 1897 under the preaching of the Rev. John E. McClean, he united with the Presbyterian Church. He was elected in February 1898 to the office of Ruling Elder of the church and ordained and installed into that office May 17th 1898. He filled the office of clerk of the session from May 17th 1898 till a short time before his death. The services were conducted at the residence of the deceased by the Rev. John H. Bellot, and assisted by Rev. John W. Holt of the Methodist Church and Rev Thomas Preston of Cumberland Church.

Mrs. Taylor Dies At Home
Mrs. Jennie Taylor, 64, the widow of the late F. M. Taylor, died at the family home eight miles east of Jefferson, Sunday night, November 28th. She was born Virginia Galveston Campbell 6 February 1851 in Meridian, Mississippi and came to Texas in 1866. She married Flem M. Taylor 30 September 1869 and to this union eleven children were born, eight survive their mother. Surviving children; M. D. K. Taylor, married, living at Smithland, Jay Hill and Richard Taylor, living at home, Shep Taylor, married and living near homeplace, Mrs. R. A. Sharp living at Vivian, Mrs. P. H. Stone, living at Linden and Mrs. E. B. Tracey, living at Kalamazoo, Michigan and ten grandchildren. The burial was at 3 p.m. Monday at the family cemetery with services conducted by the Rev. Smith of Kellyville M. E. Church. Her husband preceded her in death eight years ago.

Little Alice Tems Buried Friday
Little Alice Tems, three-year-old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. James Tems of Marion County, died at her home near Jefferson on last Thursday night, after a short illness. Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon at the Trinity Church with the Rev. D. Townes Windham, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was made in the Trinity Cemetery.

Dr. Archie A. Terhune, Jr. Dies
Dr. Archie A. Terhune, Jr. of Jefferson, died suddenly at his home Saturday, April 22nd. He had been suffering from a severe headache for several days, he went to the drugstore for a dose of medicine, a mistake was made and the medicine he took was carbolic acid. Antidotes were immediately started, he became unconscious and was carried home. The physicians, Dr. Ligon, Dr. Moseley and Dr. Langworthy worked with him, but he did not live an hour. He was born 21 June 1860 in near Rome, Georgia. In 1869 his father moved to Jefferson, he attended school in Jefferson until he was sixteen years old and then went to Emory and Henry College in Virginia. He received his medical education in Philadelphia where his father before him had received his diploma. After this, his life was spent in Jefferson, with the exception of one year near Beaumont, one year in New Orleans and two years in Denver. Colorado. He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Margaret and his sister, Mrs. H. C. Taylor.

Death of George W. Thomas
Mr. George W. Thomas passed away at his home 12 miles east of Jefferson Saturday morning at 5:30 on March 11th, after a lingering illness. Mr. Thomas came to Texas from his native state, Alabama about 45 years ago and has lived nearly all of that time at his present home place. He leaves three sons; W. L. Thomas of Isom, Texas, W. H. Thomas at home and B. H. Thomas, deputy sheriff and three daughters; Mrs. Sallie Huckaby, Mrs. Hasty and Miss Evie Thomas. The body was brought to Jefferson Sunday morning for burial in the family plot at Oakwood cemetery at 11 a.m. with the Masons conducting the services of their deceased brother.

Death of Mrs. Lulu Thomas
The sad news reached here Wednesday of the death of Mrs. Lulu Thomas, wife of Will H. Thomas, which occurred at their home near Comet, about four miles north of the city, on that day from childbirth. The deceased was the daughter of Major J. O. Jackson of Comet. The funeral of Mrs. Thomas and baby took place at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Oakwood Cemetery. The deceased leaves a devoted husband, father, sister, brother and other relatives to mourn her early death.

Father Of Local Barber Passes Away Monday
C. T. Thompson, 57, father of Andrew Thompson, proprietor the Riverside Barber Shop in Jefferson died at his home near Hughes Springs at 3 a.m. Monday. Crayton Theodore Thompson was born June 28, 1882 in Cass County, Texas. He had been a resident of Hughes Springs for the past three years. He is survived by his wife and the following children, Andrew of Jefferson, Mrs. Mamie Foster of Hughes Springs, Mrs. Susie Moulton of Union Hill, Mrs. Willie Mae Lillie and C. T. Thompson, all of Hughes Springs. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Mims Chapel with interment in Mims Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson Passes Away
Mrs. Elizabeth Thompson, mother of Mrs. T. S. Murray and widow of a well known citizen, Mr. S. A. Thompson, he passed away several years ago. Mrs. Thompson was born in Tennessee 21 March 1853 and they married 9 July 1870, she was a member of the Methodist Church. She died Saturday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. S. Murray after an illness of several weeks. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. and services were conducted by Rev. J. H. Beall.

Mrs. Thompson Dies At Home
Mrs. Emaline Thompson died at the family home six miles north of Jefferson, Tuesday, she was 89 years old. The burial took place Wednesday afternoon at the Old Foundry Graveyard. The deceased had been a resident of this county for many years. She leaves two sons, J. P. Thompson of Trees, Louisiana and J. F. Thompson at home and six daughters, all residing in this city.
Note: Dorcus Emaline FORD Thompson was born 5 May 1825 and died 23 December 1913, she is buried by her husband, Thomas Thompson, who died in November 1892.

Death of W. T. Thompson
Mr. W. T. Thompson died Friday night about 9 p.m. after a short illness at the home of his mother, six miles north of this city. The deceased was a leading county man and a devout Christian, who was honored and respected by everyone. He was the former county commissioner and president of Trinity Union and a member of the present grand jury. He leaves three children, all married, an aged mother, brothers and sisters to mourn his loss and to whom we extend our sincere sympathy. The burial took place Saturday afternoon at the Old Foundry Cemetery.
Note: William Thomas Thompson 15 December 1850 - 22 November 1907. He was buried beside his wife, Tabitha Lueller.

Death of Samuel Thurman
Mr. Samuel Thurman, died about 6 o’clock Tuesday morning, after an illness of several weeks, he was 57 years old. Mr. Thurman has been in poor health for several years. He was one of our leading wholesale merchants and influential citizens. He came here many years ago from Virginia and has built up, by his untiring energy, a large business. His devoted wife, daughter, Miss Goldie, and sons Zan and Theo survive him.
The funeral took place at 3 o’clock Wednesday afternoon from the family residence on Walker Street. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. J. W. Holt and Rev. Jno. H. Bellot from where the remains were followed to their last resting place in Oakwood Cemetery by a large concourse of relatives and friends. All business houses were closed for the funeral. General Chas. Thurman of Barryville, Virginia, the brother of Mr. Thurman reached here Thursday afternoon. He was expected Wednesday, but could not arrive here in time for the funeral.

Funeral Was Held Sunday P.M. For E. R. Todd
Funeral services for Ed Todd, 46, were held on last Sunday afternoon at 8 p.m. at the church in the Shiloh community with the Rev. O. H. Zimmerman, pastor of the Methodist Church of Avinger officiating. Mr. Todd, an officer, died Saturday morning from gun shots received when he stood in conversation with a man, in front of a store in Whatleyville, about 7 miles from Jefferson. He was a prominent member of the local American Legion Post and served in France during WWI. He was given a full military funeral. Surviving Mr. Todd is his wife, Mrs. Gertrude WHITFIELD Todd, four brothers, Rufus, John, Roy and Talmadge Todd and one sister Mrs. L. L. Rayborn.

Mrs. Todd Dies Suddenly At Home
Mrs. George T. Todd, the widow of the late Mr. G. T. Todd, died Thursday night, October 19th, very suddenly at the family home on Polk Street. She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. J. S. Lewis and Mrs. L. E. Hough of this city and Miss Eva Todd of Marshall; two sons, Captain C. C. Todd in San Antonio, US Engineer A. Miller Todd in Vicksburg, Mississippi; a step-son, Rev. V. D. Todd in Coalinger, California and a number of grandchildren. The funeral was held Sunday morning at 10 a.m. at the family residence and she was laid to rest in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Note: Marion M. MILLER Todd was born 1852. Her husband, George T. Todd preceded her in death in 1913 and one son, William H. Todd preceded in death in 1895.

Mrs. Josephine Todd Buried Wednesday
Funeral services for Mrs. J. B. Todd, 84, who lived here most of her life, died suddenly of a heart attack at her home at 6 o’clock. She operated Todd Cottage, a well-known rooming house, which she had operated for many years. Her daughter, Mrs. W. J. Opry of Jefferson, two grandsons, Robert and Leslie Opry of Alexandria, Louisiana, a great-granddaughter, Bobbie Opry of Jefferson and three stepdaughters, Mrs. Willie McLeown of Kingston, Canada, Miss Hallie Todd and Mrs. Frank Berry of Houston, survive her. Services were held from the home on Clarksville Street at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning with the Rev. D. Townes Windham, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Torrans Dies In Oklahoma
Mrs. Torrans, wife of Mr. C. P. Torrans died at Chicotah, Oklahoma Wednesday about 7 a.m., the remains were brought to Jefferson on the M.K. & T. Friday at 4:28 p.m. and was accompanied by Mrs. Torrans' daughter, Mable and son. Will and her brother, A. P. Jones of Brownwood. Relatives and friends were at the depot and the remains were taken to Oakwood Cemetery for burial in the family plot. Services were conducted by Rev. J. S. Lewis, Sr. The deceased was reared in Jefferson and was the sister of A. P. Jones. She leaves a husband and children.

Mrs. Lizzie Trice, 72, died at the home of her brother-in-law, Alderman W. A. McCrary on South 15th Street in Paris, Texas 03 January 1915. Mrs. Trice was the widow of the late Trice and had lived in Jefferson many years.

Mr. Trice Dies At Howelton
R. T. Trice died at his home in Howelton, north of this city on Friday, December 11th after an illness of some time. Mr. Trice had resided here nearly all of his life and was a member of the firm Williams & Trice, who conducted a merchandise business in Howelton. he leaves a devoted wife and six little children to mourn his loss.

Tullis, Martha J.

Death of Mrs. M. J. Tullis
Mrs. M. J. Tullis died at her home one mile southeast of this city at 4 a.m. Friday morning, October 27 from paralysis, she was 73 years old. Mrs. Tullis was the widow of the late A. D. Tullis, who was the County Surveryor for years. She was stricken with the second attack of paralysis on Sunday, the 15th and lived until the 27th. She is survived by three children; a daughter Mrs. Mamie Smith and two sons, George Tullis and Emmett Tullis. The funeral took place at 10 a.m. Saturday morning with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery.
