| The Menard News 22 June 1939 page 7 Mother Of Mrs. Perry Hartgraves And Mrs. G. Kiehne Dies At Brady. ~~~*~~~ Funeral services were held in Brady Sunday, June 18, for Mrs. Willie Elizabeth Simmons Miers, who died at her home there Saturday of high blood pressure and heart disease. She had been critically ill for the past three weeks. Elder Clem W. Hoover, mininster of the Church of Christ,officiated, and burial services were held at the Brady cemetery. Mrs. Miers was a native of Arkansas, but came to Brady from Bartlett, Bell county, more than forty years ago. Survivors include her husband G. L. Miers, Sr.; four daughters Mrs. Perry Hartgraves and Mrs. G. Kiehne of Menard; Mrs. Jim Davis of Eden; and Mrs. Charles Johnson of Lolin; three sons, Bryon and Gordon Miers of Brady and G. L. Miers, Jr. of Schulenberg and two brothers, J. C. Simmons of Waco, and Ed Simmons of Louisiana. Pallbearers were Demp Branscum, Wilson Jordan, Hicks Campbell, Louis Burns, Homer Duncan, Preuitt Garner, Elmer Malstrom and Lillard Holt. Honorary pallbearers were Jack Kinman, Glitton Parker, Joe Tinney, Lowell Brown, Jack Corbell, Clifford Keen, R. F. Hudson, B. F. Richard, Marion Lemmons, George Latham, Weldon Thornton, Walter Anderson, Rodney Parker and H. C. Tollison, all fellow highway employes of Byron and Gordon Miers. Among those from Menard attending the funeral of Mrs. Miers at Brady Sunday were Mrs. Ora Thigpen, Mrs. Franklin Robinson, Mrs. Walter Furr, Mrs. Frank Hodges and Miss Geneva Harryman, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rogers, Mrs. Norton Matthews, Mrs. Ed Amos, Mrs. Lige Wyatt, Mrs. Josie White, Miss Maurine, McClintock, Miss Mildred Beavers, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hartgraves, Mr. and Mrs. Milcolm Lekkett and daughter, Gloria, Miss Earline Parker, Miss Sallie Corbell and Mrs. Jimmie Sanders.
