Cemetery is located on the north side of Lake June Road just east of I635. Bennett Cemetery was originally
created as a family burying ground on the farm of William Hardy Bennett with the first burial in
1845. After the farm was sold the Bennett Cemetery remained active.
In the early 1950's Laurel Land Corporation purchased the area surrounding the Bennett Family Cemetery.
It was to be named Bennett Memorial Park; and so it was for about two years. The name was then
changed to Laurel Oaks Cemetery with the original Bennett section named Bennett Memorial Gardens.
