BARBER, MARSHALL                                      July 22, 1930 – March 30, 2005

Services for Mr. Marshall Barber, 74, of Omaha, were Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Daingerfield with the Rev. Bertrain Bailey officiating.  Mr. Barber was born July 22, 1930, in Morris County.  He died Thursday, March 24, 2005, in Mt. Pleasant.  He was a retired employee of Red River Army Depot.  Survivors include his wife, Vivian McCuin Barber of Omaha; two adoptive sons, Eddie Searcy and Jonathan McCuin Barber, both of Omaha; four step-children, Ida Matson of Mt. Pleasant, Donald McCuin of Houston, Patricia McCuin of Killeen and Travis McCuin of Omaha; three sisters, Annie Jones of Dallas, Ossie Pollard of Pomona, CA and Mary James of Pittsburg; two brothers, Hurndon Barber and Willie D Barber, both of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.  Interment was at Reynolds Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)

 BETTS, LAWRENCE SR.                    December 4, 1927 – November 18, 2001

Services for Mr. Lawrence Betts Sr., 73, of Naples were Saturday, November 24, 2001 at Reeder-Davis Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Melvin Hancock officiating.  Mr. Betts was born December 4, 1927 in Morris County.  He died Sunday, November 18, 2001 at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant.  He was employed by Lone Star Steel Company.  Survivors include his wife, Clifford Betts of Naples; three sons, Lawrence Betts Jr., Michael Betts and Darrell Betts, all of Naples; two daughters, Tracy Betts and Brenda Whetstone, both of Naples; two brothers, Wendell Betts of Hughes Springs and Colby Betts of San Antonio; 16 grandchildren and host of other relatives and friends.  Burial was at Reynolds Cemetery. BRYSON, RUFUS                                              May 2, 1928 – January 17, 2000

Services for Mr. Rufus Bryson, 71, of Omaha, were Friday, January 21, 2000, at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Everett officiating.  Mr. Bryson was born May 2, 1928, in Omaha.  He died January 17, 2000 in a Pittsburg hospital. He was retired from Lone Star Steel, a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran.  Survivors include six sons, Arthur Bryson, Rudolph Stern and Tony Bryson of Dallas, Randolph Bryson of Omaha, Danny Bryson of Longview, and Keith Bryson of Hughes Springs; one daughter, Gloria Douglas of Omaha; and his mother-in-law, Ona Lee Stern.  Interment was in the Reynolds Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)

 BURGESS, CATHERINE                           December 29, 1921 – April 18, 2008

Services for Mrs. Catherine Burgess, 86, of Mt. Pleasant were Saturday, April 26, 1980, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Omaha, with the Rev. Courtney Mitchell officiating.  Mrs. Burgess was born December 29, 1921, in Omaha.  She died April 18, 2008, in Tyler.  She was retired from teaching school at Daingerfield and was a former teacher at Mt. Pleasant.  She was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Omaha.  Preceding her in death was her husband, Herbert Burgess.  Survivors include a daughter, Frances Eileen Burgess of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers, Arthur Wright and Burnon Charles Wright, both of Washington, DC; three sisters, Dossie Bryson of Omaha, George Murray of Washington, DC, and Constance Whitmore of Dallas, and a number of other relatives.  Burial was in the Reynolds Cemetery of Daingerfield.

 CHISM, MELVIN FRANK                               March 3, 1954 -- August 7, 1995

MELVIN FRANK CHISM, 41, of Lone Star, died Monday, August 7, following a lengthy illness.  Services were at 11 am, Saturday, August 12, at the Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ in Omaha, with Bro. Luckey Randall officiating.  Burial was in the Reynolds Cemetery in Daingerfield.  Mr. Chism graduated from Daingerfield High School, attended Kilgore Junior College and NTCC, where he received an associate degree in applied science.  He was employed at Anderson-Hickey for seven years, and was a member of the Mt. Mitchell Church in Omaha.  He was preceded in death by a brother, John Rodgers.  Survivors include one son, Christopher Chism of Henderson; one daughter, Marquita Latrell Chism of Henderson; his parents, Henry and Hattie Younger of Daingerfield; seven brothers, Willie Rodgers, Jimmy Chism Sr., and William Chism, all of Lone Star, Ronald Smith Sr. and Dedrick Younger, both of Dallas, Henry Earl Younger of Elcon, CA, and Earnest Younger of Daingerfield; five sisters, Monica Linwood of Cason, Tammy Craine of OK City, OK, Rozalyn Williams of Lone Star, and Sharon Younger and Jackie Keller, both of Dallas; two grandmothers, Ozie Rodgers of Omaha and Bennie Mae Younger of Pomona, CA; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

 CROWE, CHARLIE MAE                           April 17, 1942 – February 18, 2008

Services for Mrs. Charlie Crowe, 65, of Omaha, were February 23, 2008, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. C. D. Mitchell officiating.  Mrs. Crowe was born April 17, 1942, in Daingerfield, to Charlie Red and Josie Hendrix Douglas.  She died February 18, 2008, in Mt. Pleasant.  She was a retired laborer from Pilgrim’s Pride Corporation and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and sisters.  Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Renee Douglas of Mt. Pleasant; two brothers and a sister-in-law, John L. Douglas and Charles and Gloria Douglas of Omaha; six sisters, Linda Smith and Mary Epps both of Omaha, Ethel Stern and Jo Lynn Warren of Dallas, Julie Gnagne of Rusk, and Helen Flemming of Lone Star; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  Pallbearers were Derrick Kennedy Sr., Alexander Flemming, Craig Stern, Reginald Stern, Christopher Scott Douglas, Welton Jefferson Sr., Eddie J. Searcy, Antonio Wells, Joseph Williams and Steve Williams.  Honorary pallbearers included John L. Douglas, Charlie Ray Douglas and Charlie Ray Douglas, Jr.  Burial was in Reynolds Cemetery of Daingerfield.  (Location Unknown)

 EVANS, EDDIE                                         September 10, 1956 – March 11, 2004

Services for Mr. Eddie Evans, 47, of Daingerfield, were Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ with Bro. Darryl Bowdre officiating.  Mr. Evans was born September 10, 1956, in Daingerfield.  He died Thursday, March 11, 2004, in Daingerfield.  He attended Daingerfield public schools and Texas Southern University in Houston, was an auto mechanic, and a lifetime resident of Daingerfield.  Survivors include two sons, Eddie D. Evans Jr. and Shenard Cedrick Evans; one daughter, Shanika Evans; four brothers, Joe Evans of Naples, Robert Evans of Omaha, William Evans of CA and Gale Evans of Houston; one sister, Lameatha Bowdre of Prairie View; and a number of nephews and great-nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and one brother.  Interment was at Reynolds Cemetery.  EVANS, GLORIA FAYE                                 July 23, 1957 – February 17, 2001

Services for Mrs. Gloria Faye Evans, 43, of Naples were Saturday, February 24, 2001 at Morning Star Baptist Church with Elder L. C. Webster officiating.  Mrs. Evans was born July 23, 1957 in Naples.  She died Saturday, February 17, 2001 in a Houston hospital.  She was cook and a member of Browns Temple CME Church.  Survivors include one son Deran Evans; one daugher Latasha Evans; her father and stepmother Tommie Lee and Linda Evans, all of Naples; three brothers and two sisters-in-law Jerry and Barbara Evans of Naples, Johnny and Elena Evans of Queen City and David Evans of Birmingham, AL; five sisters and three brothers-in-law Margaret and Kennie Webster and Cynthia and Charles Williams of Naples, Bridgette and Michael Thomas of Columbus, GA, Tina Thomas of Linden, and Tyra Evans of Omaha; special friend James Byrd of Naples and a number of other relatives.  FLEMMING, ROOSEVELT                          February 28, 1912 – July 29, 1998

Roosevelt Flemming, 86, of Omaha, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant.  Funeral services were at 2 pm Saturday, August 1, at the Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ in Daingerfield, with Will Williams officiating.  Burial was in the Reynolds Cemetery.  Mr. Flemming was born February 28, 1912, in Morris Co. He was a retired farmer and member of the Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Arilla Flemming, and three sons, Timothy, Charles, and Weldon.  Survivors include ten children, Arvella Woodson, Willie, Mary, Spud, Ray, Floyd, Lonita Ashley, Lester, Lonnie, and Roosevelt Jr; seven sisters, Lealtus Brooks, Hattie Goodman, Imogene Hill, Charlie Maye York, Lois Elliott, Lillie Luster and Leola Turner; three brothers, O.  FRANKLIN, PINKIE “SISTER”                  September 27, 1915 – June 6, 2004

Services for Mrs. Pinkie “Sister” Franklin, 88, of Daingerfield, were Saturday, June 12, 2004, at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Cason with the Rev. Damien Williams officiating.  Mrs. Franklin was born September 27, 1915, in Cason.  She died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant.  She was a store owner in Odessa.  Survivors include one brother, Bob Woods of Arlington; two sisters, Ruby Davis of Columbus, OH, and Charles Etta Bracken of Dallas; sister-in-law, Arletha Woods of Ft. Worth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Torris Franklin.  Interment was at Reynolds Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)

 GRANT, MARY LOU EVANS                                 May 22, 1927-- May 5, 2009

Mary Lou Grant, 81, of Titus County, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, in Titus County.  Services were held May 12 at Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ in Omaha with Bro. Joe Rivers, minister, officiating.  Interment followed in Reynolds Cemetery in Daingerfield under the direction of Tumey Mortuary.  Pallbearers were Adias Grant, Bobby Sims, Otis Peel, Brandon Sims, Rodrick Grant, and Casey Rogers.  Honorary pallbearers were Chris Grant, Ray Walker, Roderick McKnight, Ontario Grant, Markeith T. Grant, Montral Walker, Gerald Hughes and Richard “Duke” Grant.  Mrs. Grant was born on May 22, 1927, in Daingerfield, the daughter of Van Sr. and Lottie (Brown) Evans.  She was raised by her adopted parents, Gold and Mary Crowder.  She was a housewife and member of Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ.  She is survived by her four daughters, Martha Grant Sims and Sharon Peel, both of Mount Pleasant, Tammy Rogers of Texarkana, and Patricia Watson of Mount Pleasant; four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Gidget Grant of Dallas, Rickie and Sheila Grant of Pittsburg, Clyde Henry and Troycer Grant of Mount Pleasant, and Casey Rogers of Mount Pleasant; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and a host of brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Grant; her parents; a brother and sister.  (R Side Rd Entr)

HODGE, LEONARD JR                                  October 17, 1922 – May 12, 2005

Services for Mr. LEONARD HODGE, JR., 82, of Omaha, will be conducted today, Thursday, May 12, 2005, at 11 am., at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home Chapel with C. D. Mitchell officiating.  Mr. Hodge was born October 17, 1922 in Daingerfield.  He died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at his residence.  He was a supervisor in the frozen food industry.  Survivors include his wife, Merlene Hodge of Daingerfield; two son, Curtis Hodge and Lonnie Hodge, both of Dallas; three daughters, Sherlene Smith of Dallas, Patricia Robinson of Daingerfield and Loni Mae Thomas of Grand Prairie; two sisters, Iona Cuellar of Longview and Leona Doddy of Lone Star; 21 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.  Interment will be at Reynolds Cemetery. HOOD, JOHN LUTHER                                 June 21, 1948 – February 5, 2009

Services for Mr. John Luther Hood, 60, of Naples, were February 10, 2009, at First Baptist Church of Omaha with the Rev. C. Hood officiating.  Mr. Hood was born June 21, 1948, in Omaha.  He died February 5, 2009.  He was a truck driver and a member of First Baptist Church.  Survivors include his wife, Lue Hood; four sons, Kevin Cobbins, Luther Hood, Derrick Hood and John Willie Hood of Naples; two daughters, Alicia Hood of Dallas and Joann Hood of Naples; mother, Ruth Hood of Naples; seven brothers, Adam Hood of Sulphur Springs, the Rev. Charlie Hood and the Rev. Mark Hood of Tyler, Paul Hood and Thomas Hood of Naples, the Rev. David Hood of Texarkana, and the Rev. Services for Mrs. Ozie Rodgers, 92, of Omaha were Thursday, November 30, 2000 at Mt. Mitchell Church of Christ with Douglas Howie officiating.  Mrs. Rodgers was born April 13, 1908 in Morris Co.  She died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000.  She was a homemaker.  Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law John Rodgers, Paul and Delores Rodgers, Calvin and Margie Rodgers and a grandson she raised, Ronald and Charlotte Smith; seven daughters and sons-in-law Allean and Paul Mimms, Hattie and Henry Younger, Marie and Nolan Thomas, Ozie and Arthur Young, Bonnie and Alfred Murrell, Evelyn and Charles Williams and Ellen and Reginal Johnson; brothers Scott Evans and R. Bobbie Seacy, 59, of Omaha, died Wednesday, December 24, 1997, in Dallas.  Funeral services were at 1 pm, December 30, at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. John M. Brooks officiating.  Burial was in the Reynolds Cemetery.  Ms. Searcy was born January 9, 1938, in Morris County.  She was a chef and a Baptist.  Survivors include a son, Elvin Phillip Searcy of Daingerfield; a daughter, Evelyn Searcy of Dallas; a brother, L. V. Searcy of Daingerfield; three sisters, Patsy J. Lewis of Daingerfield, Julie Searcy of Jacksonville, and Carolyn McGinnis of Houston; four grandchildren. (Location Unknown)

Services for Mrs. Josie Mae Hendrix Searcy, 83, of Daingerfield, were Saturday, July 2, 2005, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church with the Rev. Bertrain Bailey officiating.  Mrs. Searcy was born Aug. 16, 1921, in Omaha.  She died Sunday, June 26, 2005 in Daingerfield.  She was retired from Daingerfield School district and a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Daingerfield.  Survivors include two sons, John L Douglas and Charlie Douglas Jr., both of Daingerfield; six daughters, Charlie M Crowe and Helen Flemming, both of Lone Star, Mary Epps and Linda Smith, both of Daingerfield; Ethel Stern of Dallas and Julie Gnagne of Rusk; and a number of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives.  Intement was at Reynolds Cemetery. TALTON, JAMES RICHARD                   August 21, 1951 – January 17, 2004

Services for Mr. JAMES RICHARD TALTON, 53, of Omaha, were Saturday, January 24, 2004, at Omaha First Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny Traylor officiating.  Mr. Talton was born August 21, 1951, in Morris County.  He died Saturday, January 17, 2004, at Titus Co Memorial Hospital.  He attended Carver High School, was a veteran of the Army having served from June 1972 to June 1975, was a member of Brown’s Temple Church and a lifetime resident of Morris County.  Survivors include two sons, Kendrick Talton and James Richard Talton, Jr.; two daughters, Kristi Pearson and Precious Talton; seven brothers, Melvin Johnson, Alvin Johnson, Earnest Ray Johnson, Lawrence Johnson, Tommy Johnson, and Alonzo Johnson Barner; six sisters, Dora Rockwall, Lessie Ventry, Versie Handy, Lou Lewis, Mickey Easter and Jeannie Mason; and seven grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, Hosie Johnson; his mother, Rosie Ann Wilkerson; and a sister, Bobbie Jean Johnson.  Interment was at Reynolds Cemetery. Turner, 61, of Omaha were Saturday, may 6, 2000 at Daingerfield High School Auditorium with Will Williams, Jr. officiating.  Mr. Turner was born April 20, 1939 in Morris Co.  He died Friday, April 28, 2000 in a Tyler hospital.  He was an employee of Daingerfield-Lone Star Independent School District and attended the Church of Christ.  Survivors include his wife, Ollaree Turner of Omaha; one daughter, Linda Turner of Omaha; two step-children, Leon Templeton and Delois Bradley of Longview; his mother, Louella Turner of Omaha; five brothers, Onzie Turner of Daingerfield, Willie James Turner of Cason, L. W. Turner and Willie Ray Turner of Omaha and Arthur Morris Turner of Mt. Pleasant; three sisters, Shirley Ann Traylor and Betty Ann Turner of Omaha and Edith Osadolor of Longview; one grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren.  Burial was in Reynolds Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)

Lucky Randall officiating.  Mrs. Turner was born Aug. 23, 1909 in Morris Co.  She died Friday, July 9, 1999 at East Texas Medical Center in Pittsburg.  She was a homemaker.  Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Daniel R and Mary Arthur of Daingerfield; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen J and Floyd Walker of Daingerfield; three brothers, O. J. Arthur of Omaha, Norris Fleming of Abilene, H. B. Fleming of KY; six sisters, Leoitus Brooks of Dallas, Imogene Hill of Dallas, Charlie Mae York of Niagra Falls NY, Lois Elliott of Mt. Services for Mr. Onzie Tuner, 56, of Daingerfield, were at 2 pm, Wednesday, October 31, 2001, at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Daingerfield, with the Rev. B. Bailey officiating.  Mr. Turner was born Jan. 3, 1 945, in Titus Co.  He died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2001 at Titus Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant.  He was retired from Daingerfield-Lone Star ISD and was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannie Ruth Turner.  Survivors include his wife, Beverly Turner of Marshall; one son, Edward Charles Turner of Longview; four step-sons; two step-daughters; his mother, Louella Grant Turner of Omaha; four brothers, L. W.and Willie R of Omaha, Willie J of Cason, and Arthur M of Mt. Pleasant; and three sisters, Shirley A Traylor of Mt. Pleasant, Edith Osadolor of Longview, and Betty A Turner of Omaha.  Burial was in the Reynolds Cemetery in Daingerfield, under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.  (Location Unknown)

WHITMORE, D. W. “Dallas”   June 12, 1919 – December 18, 2008 

Services for D.W. “Dallas” Whitmore of Daingerfield were held Dec. 27 at New Hope Baptist Church in Daingerfield with Donnie Davis officiating. Interment was in Reynolds Cemetery in Daingerfield.  Mr. Whitmore was born June 12, 1919, in Cason and died Dec. 18 at a Bedford nursing facility.  (Location Unknown)

WILKERSON, M. C.                                   January 2, 1926 – February 4, 2000

Services for M. C. Wilkerson, 74, of Naples will be today, Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000, at 11 AM at Morning Star Baptist Church.  Mr. Wilkerson was born Jan 2, 1926 in Morris Co.  He died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 at Mt. Pleasant.  He was retired from Lone Star Steel, a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church and a life long resident of Morris Co.  Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Betts, Johnny Thomas, Melvin Robinson, Charlie Young, John Taylor and Herman King.  Honorary pallbearers will be nephews, Clarence Robertson and Connie Jones.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Montique and Sarah Wilkerson.  Burial will be in Reynolds Cemetery.  The Rev. Venters officiating.  Mrs. Wofford was born May 16, 1919 in Gilmer.  She died Sunday, June 11, 2000 in Mt. Pleasant.  She was a homemaker.  Survivors include one daughter, Cora Mae “Penny” Collins of Naples; one sister, Lula B. Smith of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Wilson Sales of Wichita Falls; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.  Burial was in Reynolds Cemetery.
