MCCOLLUM, JAMES SAMUEL SR. 1863 – June
J. S. McCollum,
Sr, aged almost 69 years, died at the Texarkana Hospital in Texarkana,
Wednesday night, June 17; he was carried to Texarkana the week before
his death where he underwent an operation. Mr. McCollum moved to near
Omaha about 35 years ago from Alabama and had lived in and near Omaha
ever since. He was a member of the Methodist church here, and was a
most likeable man. His body was buried at the Concord Cemetery,
Thursday afternoon in the presence of many relatives and friends, after
funeral services conducted by Rev. R. E. Beaird, assisted by Rev. A. B.
Moses and Elder J. S. Caldwell. Mr. McCollum is survived by his wife,
four brothers, two sisters, and eight children, George, Jim, Earl and
Marvin of Omaha, Willis of Dallas, Mrs. D. W. Ponder and Mrs. J. S.
Brewton of Omaha, and Mrs. J. T. Smith of Tulsa, OK. (Row 17 NE)
