Fields, Velma Sharp Services for Mrs. Velma Sharp Fields, 90, of Naples were Monday, April 1, 2002 at Concord Baptist Church with the Reverends James Hinkle and Tommy Rider officiating.  Mrs. Fields was born September 9, 1911 in Cookville, Texas.  She died Friday, March 29, 2002 in Naples.  She was a member of the Rocky Branch Missionary Baptist Church and a lifetime resident of the Naples area.  Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Robert Harvey of Naples; Jean and Vinus Nelson of Cedar Hill, Evelyn and A. J. Smegner of Ducanville; five grandchildren, Tonda Thomas, Steve Smegner, Susan Gaskill, David Nelson and Deborah Wilkins; 13 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her husband Jim Fields, and a son J. W. Fields.  Interment was at Concord Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Johnny Joyner, John Tigert, Jesse Wright, Odis Cline, Thad Betts and William Pope.
Garner, Jeanie E.

GARNER, JEANIE E.                                                                                 September 12, 1913 – June 23, 2002

Graveside services for Mrs. Jeanie E. Garner, 88, of Lone Star will be conducted today, Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at 10 am at the Bradfield Chapel Cemetery with the Reverend Steven Hill officiating.  Mrs. Garner was born September 12, 1913 in Gadsden, AL.  She died Sunday, June 23, 2002 in Hughes Springs.  She was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church and a homemaker.  Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Bobby Hill of Hughes Springs, Peggy and Gerald Phillips and Jan and Mike Floyd, all of Cason; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. Garner; and a son, Julian E. Elliott.  (Row 13)

Garrett, Maggie Reland

Services for Mrs. Maggie Reland Garrett, 93, of Daingerfield, will be conducted today, Wednesday, January 16, 2002 at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Norman Crisp officiating. Mrs. Garrett was born Thursday, Aug 27, 1908 in Temple to Jackson Clay Row and Maggie Myrtle Taylor Row. She died Monday, Jan 14, 2002 in Longview. She was a homemaker, caregiver and was reborn at the First Baptist Church in Daingerfield Nov 28, 1982. Survivors include five daughters and sons-in-law, Maurine and Troy Gibbs of Naples, Billie Joyce and Milbonn Forester of Mansfield, Robbie and James Long of Daingerfield, Juanita and Rusty Gearhart of Grand Prairie and Peggy Reland Clark of Mansfield; son, Robert Loyd and Eileen Garrett Jr. of Lancaster; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.  Interment will be at Daingerfield Cemetery. Goodwin, Crystal Georgette Graveside services for Mrs. Crystal Georgette Goodwin, 30, of Daingerfield were conducted  Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. at Concord Cemetery with the Reverend Nolan Richey officiating.  Burial is under the direction of Nail-Haggard Funeral Home, Daingerfield.  Visitation is 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Mrs. Goodwin was born January 29, 1972 in Marietta, Georgia.  She died Thursday, June 20, 2002 in a Houston hospital.  She was a Baptist and a nail technician for Tra’s Hair Company in Daingerfield.  Survivors include her husband, George Goodwin, one son, Scout Goodwin, both of Omaha, father Jorge Alpizar of Ocala, Florida; and one brother, Dale Bramlett of Marietta, Georgia.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Crystal Goodwin Fund at the National Bank of Daingerfield.
Hampton, Floriene Richey Services for Mrs. Floriene Richey Hampton, 89, of Omaha were Thursday, 10:00 a.m.,  February 21, 2002 at Concord Baptist Church with the Reverends Nolan Richey, Rodney Richey, Ray Richey and Glenn Griffith officiating.  Mrs. Hampton was born July 21, 1912 in Omaha.  She died Tuesday, February 19, 2002 in Mount Pleasant.  She was a member of the Concord Baptist Church, worked many years in the Dallas school system and a longtime resident of Omaha.  Survivors include one daughter-in-law   Glenda Hampton; two grandchildren, Randy and Sharla; five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Alvin and son Dwayne.  Serving as pallbearers were great-nephews, Lance Richey, Shaun Richey, Stephen Richey, Shane Richey, John Richey, Timothy Gattis, Adam Gattis, Ryan Richey, Jake Richey and Luke Richey.  Internment was at Concord Cemetery.
Hampton, Murell Moreland

HAMPTON, MURELL MORELAND                                                                  January 23, 1917 – March 23, 2002

Services for Mrs. Murell Moreland Hampton, 85, of Naples were Monday, March 25, 2002 at First United Methodist Church in Naples with the Rev. Tim Edwards officiating.  Mrs. Hampton was born January 23, 1917 in Naples.  She died Saturday, March 23, 2002 in Texarkana.  She was a retired employee of SWEPCO, a member of First United Methodist Church, a charter member of Jonquil Garden Club and a lifetime resident of Naples.  Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Janice Hampton of Annona; two daughters, Nancy Morris and Gloria Norwood, both of Naples; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Ruby Moreland, Dan and Jackie Moreland of Hughes Springs and Coy and Sarah Moreland; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Jimmy Walker of Hughes Springs and a number of nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh, and a grandson, Sid Norwood.  Interment was at Naples Cemetery.  (Sec A Row 7)

Hawkins, Virginia Charlton

Services for Mrs. Virginia Ann Charlton Hawkins, 59, of Omaha were Monday, April 15, 2002 at the First Baptist Church of Omaha with the Rev. Lanny Peek and Rev. Neal Thornburgh officiating.  Mrs. Hawkins was born January 29, 1943 in Omaha.  She died Saturday, April 13, 2002 at her home.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, an employee of CSI and a lifetime resident of the Omaha area.  Survivors include her husband, Ronnie”Butch” Hawkins; one daughter and son-in-law, Wendie and Robert Roundtree; two sons and daughter-in-law, Dusty and Belinda Hawkins and Rocky Hawkins; all of Omaha; four grandchildren, Jayce, Aleea, Dara and Rance; her mother, Arlene Charlton; one brother, Wayne Charlton; both of Cookville; one sister, Judy Betts of Mt. Pleasant and her mother-in-law, Eula Hawkins of Omaha.  She was preceded in death by her father, Manuel Charlton and a brother, Gay Charlton.  Pallbearers included Dwade Rhea, Dwayne Rhea, Don Rhea, Clint Adams, Bryan Hawkins, Rex Allen Hawkins, Clint Mills and Paul Mills.  Interment was at Omaha Cemetery.   (G Row 14)

Hobbs, Lessie Lee

Services for Mrs. Lessie Lee Hobbs, 93, of Omaha were held Monday, January 14, 2002 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lanny Peek officiating and eulogy given by Mrs. Charlotte Longino.  Mrs. Hobbs was born February 12, 1908 in Omaha.  She died Saturday, January 12, 2002 in Mt. Pleasant.  She was a retired secretary for Clarence Stevens and the Omaha bank, a member of the First Baptist Church and a lifetime resident of Omaha.  Survivors include several cousins, many friends and a special loving caregiver, Woodine Strawn.  She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Millard Byron Hobbs.  Interment was at Omaha Cemetery.  (H Row 6)

Jones, Arless "Nannie" Arless “Nannie” Jones, 88, of Hughes Springs, died Sunday, June 9, 2002 at her home.   Mrs. Jones was born June 20, 1913 in Omaha, Texas.  She was a homemaker and a Missionary Baptist.  Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jamie and Gerald Taylor of Hughes Springs; one stepson, Weldon “Bud” Shelton of Hughes Springs; three grandchildren Mickey Lynn Keasler of Hallsville, Texas, Marty Lee Keasler of Hughes Springs and Misty Lenette Taylor of Longview, Texas; one granddaughter-in-law Cynthia Keasler of Hughes Springs; two great-grandchildren, Michael Bryant Keasler of Hughes Springs and Kaen Lynn Keasler of Hallsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.  Services will be 2:00 p.m. June 11, 2002 at Reeder-Davis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steven Hill officiating.  Burial will be in Concord Cemetery, Omaha, Texas.
Mathews, Agnes

MATHEWS, AGNES                                                                                              October 9, 1925 – May 21, 2002

Services for Mrs. Agnes Mathews, 76, of Naples were Monday, May 27, 2002 at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. James Boyce officiating.  Mrs. Mathews was born Oct. 9, 1925 in Marietta.  She died Tuesday, May 21, 2002 at Hospice Homeplace.  She attended Bethlehem Public Schools, was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, a mission teacher and a lifetime resident of the Naples area.  Survivors include two sons, Donald Joe Mathews and William Paul Mathews Sr., both of Naples; two daughters, Eva Nell Young of Naples and Sara Virginia Mathews of Tyler; one sister, Cosetta Lewis of Oakland, CA; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and daughter.  Pallbearers were Willie Henderson, Patrick Collins, Darrell Young, James Payne, Mike Byrd and Calvert Nickelberry.  Honorary pallbearers were Timothy Parker, Alandus Mathews, Cedrick T. Young, Brandon Mathews, Willie Paul Mathews, Jr. and Charlie Young III.  (Location Unknown)

Services for Mrs. Lucy Tigert McCollum, 85, of Naples will be conducted today, Wednesday, February 27, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Naples with the Reverends Bob Pearce and Joe Dan Perkins officiating. Mrs. McCollum was born October 9, 1916 in Omaha. She died Sunday, February 24, 2002 in Midland. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and a lifetime resident of the Naples area. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Reggie and Lisa McCollum; one grandson, Kyle McCollum; two granddaughters, Kodi Walker and Kaci Walker, all of Midland; one sister, Ruby Ivy of Longview; two brothers, George Tigert Jr, and Bobby Ray Tigert, both of Shreveport, and a number of nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Jerry Ray Tigert, Jim Berry and John Paul Vissering. Interment was at Omaha Cemetery. (G Row 2)

Services for Mrs. Ruby McIntyre, 86, of Naples were Thursday, February 28, 2002 at Alexander Chapel with the Rev. Lanny Peek and Rev. Tim Edwards officiating.  Mrs. McIntyre was born June 16, 1915 in Sulphur Springs.  She died Monday, February 25, 2002 in Mt. Pleasant.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a retired nurse aid and a longtime resident of Naples.  Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, M. G. and Ann McIntyre of Simms, Max and Faye McIntyre of Brownwood and Reginald and Shirley McIntyre of Tyler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maxine and Nick Garretson of Mineral Wells and Karen and Jimmy Barron of Greenwood, AR; one sister, Katherine Charlton of Omaha; three step-brothers, Jim Berry of  Naples, Leslie Berry of Las Vegas, NV and Carroll Berry of Farmington, NM; one step-sister, Nell Berry of Naples; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman, in 1977.  Serving as pallbearers were her grandchildren.  Interment was at Spring Hill Cemetery.  (NE Row 5)

Graveside services for Mrs. Audrey Estelle Merrell, 91, of Naples were Saturday, March 16, 2002 at Spring Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Earl Taylor officiating.  Mrs. Merrell was born February 16, 1911 in Naples.  She died Wednesday, March 13, 2002 in San Antonio.  She was a retired telephone operator for Lone Star Steel Company, a member of Naples First Baptist Church and a longtime resident of Naples.  Survivors include one son, Dr. Ronald Merrell; one granddaughter, Cynthia Smith; three great-grandsons, Ronald, Stephen and Daniel Smith, all of San Antonio and a number of nieces and nephews.  (NW Row 7)

Ragland, Lorena Mae Services for Mrs. Lorena Mae Ragland, 94, of Omaha were Friday, May 24, 2002 at Concord Baptist Church with the Reverend Nolan Richey officiating.  Mrs. Ragland was born February 12, 1908 in Omaha.  She died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 in Longview.  She was a member of the Concord Baptist Church, a member of Eastern Star, Daughters-of-the-Confederacy, retired beauty operator and lifetime resident of Omaha.  Survivors include her daughter Barbara Boozer Kelley of Longview; four grandchildren and spouses, Steve Breckenridge and Lori Golder of West Monroe, LA, Joy Breckenridge and David Trevino of Houston, Lisa and Jim Wommack and Billy and Brooke McLean of Longview; and six great grandchildren.  Interment was at Concord Cemetery.
Rutland, Valarie Valarie Rutland, 87 of New Boston died Wednesday, February 20, 2002 in a Linden, Texas hospital.  Mrs. Rutland was born August 1, 1914 in Omaha, Texas.  She was a homemaker, member of Tapp Memorial United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women’s Association and a life member of New Boston Chapter 700 Order of the Eastern Star.  Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Lajuan and David Fannin of Maud, Texas and Henretta and Frankie King of Pittsburg, Texas; one sister, Tula McFearin of Mount Pleasant, Texas; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.  Services were at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2002  at Bates-Rolf Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Charles Fannin officiating.  Burial was in the Concord Cemetery, Omaha, Texas. 
Sharbine, Melinda Gail

SHARBINE, MELINDA GAIL                                                                           November 5, 1960 – February 14, 2002

Services for Mrs. Melinda Gail Sharbine, 41, of Lone Star were Sunday, February 17, 2002 at Veal Switch Baptist Church with Bro. Ricky Carr and the Rev. Henry Grubbs officiating.  Mrs. Sharbine was born Nov. 5, 1960 in Lone Star.  She died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002 in Hughes Springs.  She was a Baptist and attended Paul Pewitt ISD.  Survivors include her husband, James Sharbine; one son, James Wesley Sharbine Jr; two daughters, Crystal Gail Sharbine and Carol Jean Sharbine; all of Lone Star; her father, James W. Carr; her mother, Shirley Carr, both of Hughes Springs; four brothers, James Earl Carr of Naples, Cecil Carr and Ricky Carr, both of Hughes Springs and Mark Carr of Lone Star; and son sister, Becky Carr of Daingerfield.  Interment was at Spring Hill Cemetery.  (NW Row 4)

Services for Mr. Willie Talton, 86, of Omaha were Saturday, May 25, 2002 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Adolphus Talton officiating.  Mr. Talton was born February 1, 1916 in Naples.  He died Wednesday, May 22, 2002 in Mt. Pleasant.  He was retired from Red River Army Depot and a Baptist.  Survivors include three sons, Billy Talton and Carl Talton of Dallas and Harold Talton of Marshall; two daughters, Margaret Moore of Dallas and Carol Harrison of Houston; one sister, Minnie Rodgers of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.  Interment was at Morning Star Cemetery.  (Location Unknown)

Services for Mrs. Sudie Towler, 87, of Omaha will be conducted today, Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at 10:00 am at Alexander Chapel with the Rev. Nolan Richey and Rev. Ricky Knight officiating.  Mrs. Towler was born February 2, 1915 in Rocky Branch.  She died Sunday, May 26, 2002 in Omaha.  Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Bobby Lineberger of Omaha; one granddaughter and husband, Melissa and Jason Wynn of Gladewater; one great granddaughters, Ashley Rook; one great-grandson, Brandon Wynn, both of Gladewater; and a number of nieces and nephews.  Pallbearers will be Tommy Martin, Tommy Knight, Gerald Knight, Odis Cline, Maurice Tigert, Norris Tigert and Ronald Knight.  Interment will be at Omaha Cemetery.  (A Row 19)

Walters, Herman

WALTERS, HERMAN                                                                                         November 14, 1921 – February 9, 2002

Services for Mr. Herman Walters, 80, of Naples were Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at First United Methodist Church in Naples with the Rev. Tim Edwards officiating.  Mr. Walters was born Nov. 14, 1921 in Longview.  He died Saturday, February 9, 2002 in Mount Pleasant.  Prior to establishing the Naples Farm Supply Store, Mr. Walters served as the Morris County Agricultural Extension Agent in the 1850s.  He owned and operated the Naples Farm Supply Store for many years, was a member of the First United Methodist Church, veteran of World War II, former Scout Master and had received many awards for his work in Scouting.  He was the recipient of the Naples Masonic Lodge Man of the Year award.  He was a longtime resident of Naples.  Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Tina Walters of Golden, CO; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and David Krauss of Woodbridge, VA; three grandchildren, Christie Parker of Mount Pleasant, Hannah Walters and Eli Walters, both of Golden, CO.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Madge Walters.  Interment was at Spring Hill Cemetery near Naples.  (SE Row 1)

Wright, Leslie Allen

WRIGHT, LESLIE ALLEN                                                                                 April 18, 1914 – July 31, 2002

Graveside services for Mr. Leslie A. Wright, 88, of Tyler, were Saturday, August 3, 3002, at Omaha Cemetery under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler.  Mr. Wright was born April 18, 1914, in Omaha.  He died Saturday, July 31, 2002.  He was retired from Cotton Belt Railroad, was a veteran of the US Army, 86th Infantry Division during World War II and was a member of Westwood Baptist Church.  Survivors include his wife, Emma Wright; one son, David A Wright of Tyler; one brother, William T. Wright of Omaha; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall Wright and Bentley Wright; and one sister, Mary Wright Walker.  (Location Unknown)

Zermeno, Marilyn Clayton

ZERMENO, MARILYN CLAYTON                                                                    February 25, 1932 – November 18, 2002

Graveside services for Mrs. Marilyn Clayton Zermeno, 70, of Los Angeles, CA, were Saturday, November 23, 2002, in Live Oak Cemetery in Duarte, CA, under the direction of Douglas and Zook Mortuary of Monrovia, CA. Mrs. Zermeno was born February 25, 1932, in Omaha. She died Monday, November 18, 2002, in a Texarkana hospital.  She was a homemaker and had lived in CA for almost 50 years. Survivors include three daughters, Mona Z. Starr of Pomona, CA, Sherry L Mundt of Riverside, CA, and Danielle Orenstein of Tucson, AZ; two sisters, Reve C. Allen of Texarkana, AR, and Reba C Allen of Texarkana, TX; five grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Zermeno, who died in 1990.
