COFFEE CEMETERY

Coffee Cemetery (1844-1990) is located on Farm Road 1856.  Across this highway is Lake Sweetwater.  A sign for the cemetery is over the gate.  It is fenced and overgrown with shoulder high weeks, brush, bushes, cactus and undergrowth.  I was so busy looking for snakes, I hope I recorded all the stones that I could find under these circumstances.  My neighbor that was with me had to say, “Sweetwater is where they have an annual Rattlesnake Roundup”.  I did not need that reminder at this time and place.

The oldest date I found here was 1844, the earliest burial that I found was 1886, the last burial being in 1990.  There were some unmarked graves and some illegible markers.
