DOUBLE HEART RANCH CEMETERY

Double Heart Ranch Cemetery is located about 8 miles south of Sweetwater on Highway 70S.  A large sign over the entrance to the ranch reads: DOUBLE HEART CATTLE CO., EST. 1929

The cemetery on this ranch is of cyclone fencing and has a huge stone of two hearts with the inscription: THE FAMILY OF OLLIE WILLIAM COX

(Note that the cemetery is on private property.  A member of the family does live in the house which is adjacent to the cemetery.)

Jim Vic Oatman
SWEETWATER -- Jim Vic Oatman, 44, formerly of Sweetwater, died July 6, 2002 in Tyler Hospital near Tyler, Texas.
A graveside memorial service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2002 at Double Heart Ranch Family Cemetery in Sweetwater with Dr. Mark Alexander, Jay Lawrence, Hunter Oatman Stanford, Charlie Russell, and Charlie Davis officiating. Under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Oatman was born January 6, 1958 in Sweetwater. He married Leigh McIntire on August 3, 1986 in Fort Worth. He has lived in the Dallas and Terrell area since 1983. Mr. Oatman was a graduate of Sweetwater High School in 1976 and played for the Mustangs with Coach Russell. He graduated from Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University Law School in 1983. He worked for the Dallas District Attorney's Office for nine years, and then went into private practice in 1993 as an outstanding defence attorney.
Survivors include his wife, Leigh Oatman of Terrell, TX; one daughter, Callie Elizabeth Oatman of Terrell, TX; one brother, Steve Oatman of Sweetwater; two sisters, Tamra Oatman of Austin, TX and Nita Fayles of San Rafael, CA; his parents, W.A. and Audrea Oatman of Sweetwater; and nephews, Hunter Oatman Stanford, Dashiell Oatman Stanford, Cason Fayles, and Tyler Fayles.
A memorial service was held July 10, 2002 in Dallas at the Kessler United Methodist Church.

W.A. Oatman
W.A. Oatman, 75, a longtime resident of Nolan County, died Monday, March 7, 2005, in Sweetwater.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005, in the McCoy Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with Bob Bledsoe and Rod Wetsel officiating.
A private family graveside service will follow in the Double Heart Ranch Cemetery.
W.A. was born on April 13, 1929, in Balmorhear. He attended college at Howard Payne, John Tarleton and Sul Ross on athletic scholarships. He met Audrea Lynne Cox at Sul Ross in 1951. W.A. enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and he and Audrea were married at Lackland Air Force Base on Aug. 3, 1951.
W.A. worked for Flintkote Co. for 24 years in addition to ranching. W.A. and Audrea raised cattle and cross bred sheep, horses and one of the finest flocks of pure bred Suffolk sheep in Texas on the Double Heart Ranch.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He served on the Sweetwater School Board and was a city commissioner for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Audrea Lynne Cox Oatman of Maryneal; two daughters, Tam-ra Shae Oatman of Austin and Nita Lynn Oatman Fayles of Sweetwater; one son, Ollie Stephen Oatman of Sweet-water; one granddaughter and five grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his son, James Victor Oatman, one brother and one sister.
