Hinton Clinton "H.C." Ivy Hinton Clinton "H.C." Ivy of Roscoe, Texas passed from this life on Saturday, March 10, 2007 in Sweetwater after an extended illness. A memorial service was held Thursday, March 15, 2007 at 4 p.m. at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater. Hinton Clinton Ivy was born September 27, 1922, in Fort Worth in Tarrant County. His parents were Thomas W. Ivy and Della Feazell Ivy, now deceased. They owned and operated Tom's Homemade Ice Cream in Sweetwater for over 35 years. Ivy was a veteran of World War II. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps for over three years. After being honorably discharged from the service, he started working for Santa Fe Railway in Sweetwater. He was a locomotive engineer. He retired after 33 years in 1983. Ivy and his family then moved to Roscoe where they lived for 24 years and the family still resides. He was a member of the Roscoe First United Methodist Church along with his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Eugenia Pauline Hobbs, daughter of James E. and Viola Hobbs of Brownwood, now deceased. They celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary June 28, 2006. They had three children: Pat Ivy, Jana Ivy Young, and Chris Ivy. They had eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister, and a grandson, Thomas Edward Clinton Ivy. H.C. had many hobbies including flying, scuba diving, photography, fishing, hunting, and most of all his family. Please make any memorials to Hospice of Abilene.
