CARTER-BAKSHT exchange wedding vows
  Kristi Kay Carter and Jonathan Haim Baksht were united in marriage on July 21, 2001 at half after seven o'clock in the evening. The Rev. Robert J. Babb officiated the double-ring ceremony which was held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Longview. The reception followed at Pinecrest Country Club.
  The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Donald Lloyd, of Longview, and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen E. Carter, of Carthage. She is the granddaughter of Mary Kate Hunter and the late Thomas George Hunter Jr., and Eleanor Yarborough Carter and the late Samuel Paul Carter, all of Carthage. The groom is the son of Patrice Lieb, of Austin and Abraham Guitlin Baksht, of Pharr. He is the grandson of the late Rosalyn Lieb Bieler, of Short Hills, NJ and the late Mr. and Mrs. Mendel London Baksht, of Mexico City.
  The bride is a 1993 graduate of Longview High School, and a 1996 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. The groom is a 1993 graduate of Westlake High School in Austin and a 1998 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. The couple will reside in Dallas after their honeymoon trip to the island of Bali.

The bride-elect is a 1999 graduate of Timpson High School and is attending Panola College to pursue a career as an RN. She is employed by Austin Bank in Timpson. She is the granddaughter of Doris Davis and the late Albert Davis, and Anna Mae Briggs and the late Curtis Briggs. The prospective groom is a 1992 graduate of Carthage High School and a 1999 graduate of Stephen F. Austin University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in environmental science. he is employed with 3d International of Longview. He is the grandson of the late Floyd and Gladys Griffin, and the late Leroy and Emma Crooms. The wedding is set for 5 pm July 28, 2001 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church.   The bride is the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. Charles Jenkins, of San Augustine. She is the granddaughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Berry and Mr. And Mrs. Dick Jenkins, all of San Augustine. The groom is the son of Mr. And Mrs. John D. Lister, Sr., of Carthage. He is the grandson of Girlean Lister and the late Jack Lister, of DeBerry, and the late Eugene Rayson and Ella Mae Hicks Rayson, of Carthage.

NOVAK-DAVIS exchange vows
  Kerry Krystina Novak and William Michael Davis were married Wednesday, July 4, 2001, in a 10 AM ceremony at the Millrun Activity Center. Officiating the double-ring ceremony was Russell Welch, step-father of the bride. A reception followed at the clubhouse. The bride is the daughter of Shaan and Russell Welch and Don and Sharon Novak, all of Longview. She is the granddaughter of Lou Noonan and the late James M. Noonan of Longview and Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Novak of Carthage. The groom is the son of Betty and Jimmy DeWeese of Hallsville and Rodney and Teresa Davis of Longview. His is the grandson of Johnnie Case and the late Chester Case and Faye Davis and the late Jerry Davis, all of Longview.
  The bride, a 1998 graduate of Pine Tree High School, attends Kilgore College. The groom also attended Pine Tree High School. They are employed by Medical Plaza Pharmacy in Longview. After a Gulf Coast honeymoon, they are at home in Longview.

The bride-elect is the daughter of Tommy and Essie Thomas, of Carthage, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Raymond Walker (Benjie) Thomas, of Carthage. She graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a degree in communications, and is a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. She is employed by Longview High School as a teacher. The prospective groom is the son of Jim and Elaine Guantt, of Austin, and the grandson of Mrs. Bert Guantt, of Athens, and Mrs. Smith Pennington, of Aubrey. He graduated from University of Texas at Austin with a degree in finance. He is a member of Beta Theta Pi fraternity and Silver Spurs. He is employed by Bridgestone/Firestone as a sales representative. The couple will reside in Longview.

  Jennifer LaFay Yates and Toby Scott Register were married on July 14, 2001 at 6pm at DeBerry Baptist Church in a double-ring ceremony officiated by Rev. Don Scott. The closing prayer was given by the Rev. Everett Miller.
  The bride is the daughter of Jean A. Yates, of Carthage, and Danny G. Yates, of DeBerry. She is the granddaughter of Conrad and the late Fay Allison, of Carthage, and Mary Ellen and the late George T. Yates, of DeBerry. The groom is the son of Brenda Cunningham, of Robert Lee, and W. C. Register, of Overton. His grandparents are Exa Ballard, of Henderson, and the late William Ballard, formerly of Sweetwater, and Bertha and the late Willard C. Register Sr., of Henderson.
  After a honeymoon trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will reside in Henderson.

ZURITA-ARROYO wed in double-ring ceremony
  Natalie Cristina Zurita and Don Arroyo were wed on July 7, 2001 at half past seven in the evening at First United Methodist Church in Carthage. The Rev. Freddy Mason officiated the double-ring ceremony.
  The bride is the daughter of Diana Crawford, of Burleson, and Douglas Zurita, of Miami, Florida. Her grandparents are Robert and Patricia Davis, of Carthage. She is the great-granddaughter of Victoria Duke and the late Curtis Duke, of Carthage. She is also the great-granddaughter of the late A. L. and Julia Davis. The groom is the son of Gregory and Ernestine Arroyo, of Cuero.
  The bride is a graduate of Carthage High School and Baylor University where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta national sorority. She holds a bachelor of business administration in marketing. The groom is a graduate of Cuero High School and holds a bachelor of administration in finance and a master of business administration degree from Baylor University where he was a four-year football letterman. He is now employed by Frost Bank as an associate relationship manager. After a honeymoon trip to Playa del Carmen, Mexico, the couple resides in Fort Worth.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Parker, of Carthage, Evelyn Calver and the late Dr. James L. Calver and Lela M. Calver, all of Charlottesville, Va. She is a Jenkins High School graduate. The prospective groom is the grandson of Hal White Sr. and Genevieve Hensel White, of Chicago, IL, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter Zawadski, of Brookfield, IL. He is a Fort Collins High School graduate and attended Texas Christian and Colorado State Universities. Both are employed by The Champion Corporation, a national aquatic management firm, and coach for Savannah Swim Team. Both will continue their education at Armstrong Atlantic State University.   The bride is the daughter of Pat Wise, of Garland, and Mr. And Mrs. Robert Wise, of Dallas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. And Mrs. Ralph Wise, of Longview, and the late Mr. And Mrs. Bill Williams, of Houston. She is a 1991 graduate of North Garland High School and graduated from Southwest Texas State University in 1997. She received her Master's degree in 2001 from the University of Texas at Arlington and has taught physical education at Crockett Elementary in Grand Prairie for the past three years.
  The groom is the son of Mr. And Mrs. Phil Jimerson, of Grand Prairie, formerly of Carthage. He is the grandson of Mr. And Mrs. Jimmy Jacobs and the late J. D. Jimerson, and Mr. And Mrs. C. N. Henigan, all of Carthage. He is a 1990 graduate of Grand Prairie High School. He received his Master's in public policy from Regent University in Virginia Beach, and will graduate in May from Regent University with a degree in law.

  Darlene Lavon Young and E.L. "Pete" Freeman were married Sept 29, 2001 at a 3:00 pm ceremony at the Living Waters Church in Tatum, with their children, grandchildren, plus many relatives and friends in attendance.
  Lavon's granddaughter Susan Wyatt was the maid of honor and Pete's brother James was the best man.
  Lavon and Pete attended Tatum schools, beginning in the first grade together. He has lived in Dallas for the last 50 years. Now they will make their home in Tatum.
