Farrcol "Buck" Hoelscher

Farrcol "Buck" Hoelscher, Coyanosa, died April 1, 2007. He was 75 years old. Born October 28, 1931, in Violet, he was the son of Karl B. and Alma Ida Beimer Hoelscher. Buck and Rennie Gross were united in marriage November 13, 1961, in Corpus Christi.

He lived in St. Lawrence before moving to Coyanosa in 1980. He was a farmer and a long time Farm
Bureau president. He was a catholic.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Farreol "Tiny" Hoelscher, February 1985.

His wife, Rennie Hoelscher, Coyanosa; his son, Larry Hoelscher, Coyanosa, and his daughters, Ida Hoelscher, Alpine, and Mary Procell, El Paso, survive Buck. Also surviving are his brothers, Norbert Hoelscher, Edmond Hoelscher, Karl Hoelscher, Jr., and Jeron Hoelscher, all of Violet; his sisters, Florine Dittlinger, Violet; Marian Unterbrink, Rivera, and Eiline Ladd, St. Louis, Mo.; and three grand children.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 4, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Fort Stockton. Father Arturo Pestin officiated. Interment was at East Hill Cemetery , Fort Stockton. Arrangements were under the direction of Fort Stockton Funeral Home, Fort Stockton.
Jewel K. Hillin

Jewel K. Hillin, 94, of Seguin, died Thursday, April 12, 2007, in Sequin.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Larry Krueger officiating. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery . Arrangements are by Fort Stockton Funeral Home. She was born in San Saba.

Survivors Son, Jim Hillin of Sequin; daughters, Jean Cunningham of Fenton, Mo., and Susan Armoni of Dallas; sisters, Alpha Bryson of Bedford and Helen Odell of Moran; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Salvador B. Holguin Sr .

Salvador B. Holguin Sr., 55, of McCamey died Friday, May 17, 2002, at his residence in McCamey. Service will be at 11 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in McCamey with burial in Imperial Cemetery in Imperial. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Helen G. Holguin of McCamey; sons, Salvador Holguin Jr. of McCamey and Carlos Holguin of Houston; daughters, Helen and Ana Holguin, both of McCamey; brothers, Henry Holguin, Cipriano Holguin and Luciano Holguin, all of Odessa, and Ramon Holguin and Fred Holguin, both of Forsan; and sisters, Margarita Acosta of Imperial and Senaida Aranda of Lovington, N.M.

Joan Hamilton


A memorial service for Joan Hamilton, 71, of Chester, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Orion Baptist Church, Orion. The Rev. Leroy Goodman will officiate. She was cremated at her request. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc., Fairview.


She was born March 7, 1934, in Graham, Texas, to John Roy and Alma McCalister Vick and died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, at Fairview Regional Medical Center, Fairview. She graduated from Fort Stockton (Texas) High School in 1952. She moved to Odessa, Texas, until 1959, then moved to a ranch near Santa Cruz, Calif. She raised and showed Welsh ponies and Pony of the Americas, receiving many awards and trophies. She owned Teredaine Kennels where she raised and bred champion Shetland sheepdogs.


She and her husband, Neil, retired in 1983 and moved to Pecos, Texas. He died in 1989. She moved to Midland, Texas, in 1999. She moved to Chester in March of 2005. She was a member and Sunday school teacher of Calvary Baptist Church, Pecos, and a member of Orion Baptist Church, Orion.


Surviving are one daughter, Kay Kleck of Odessa; one grandchild and one great-grandchild.


In addition to her husband, Neil, she was preceded in death by one son, and one sister.
Memorials may be made to Orion Baptist Church.

William H. Hutchison


William H. Hutchison, 56, of Bushton, Kansas, formerly of Olathe, Kansas, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2000, at the Central Kansas Medical Center-St. Rose Campus. He was born July 28, 1944, in Fort Stockton, Texas, the son of Henry M. Hutchison and Hazel Allene (Simmons) Hutchison.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He married Kathleen Ellen Kokstis on June 5, 1993, in Olathe. He was a truck driver for several companies, including Florolla Trucking of Iowa. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Ellsworth. He also was a member of the VFW and AA, both of Olathe.

Survivors include his wife, Kathleen E. Hutchison, of the home; a daughter, Pam Farrington, Bushton; a stepson, William J. Bauer, Olathe; his mother, Hazel Simmons, Goldsboro, N.C.; a brother, Richard Hutchison, Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Bonnie S. Gupton, Goldsboro, and Deloris Thompson, Atlanta; and a grandson.

The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Assembly of God Church, Ellsworth. Cremation. Memorial contributions may be made to the Assembly of God Church, Ellsworth. Arrangements are by the Parsons Funeral Home in Ellsworth.

Dortha Elyn Hollingworth

Dortha Elyn Hollingworth, 76, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 24, 2000, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ernest Easley officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Miss Hollingworth was born April 10, 1924, in Corsicana, Texas, to the late Ray O. and Pearl Murdock Hollingworth.

"Dot" graduated from Iraan High School in 1941 receiving an award for 12 years of perfect attendance in the Iraan School System. She graduated from Texas Women’s University in 1945, received a master’s degree in 1960 from Sul Ross University. She taught in the Ector County School District 35 years, serving as elementary music teacher, junior high choral director and secondary counselor. She retired in 1984.

Dot was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Texas Music Educators Association, Texas State Teachers Association, National Education Association and Classroom Teachers Association. She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church and the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary where she was known to make the best popcorn in town.

She is survived by her best friend, Dorothy E. Prince; her brother and sister-in-law, Ramon J. and Virginia Hollingworth of Little Rock, Ark.; her niece and nephew, Hal Hollingworth and Raellyn Cockerham, also of Little Rock; cousins, Marianne Settles Melton of Minneapolis, Minn., Joe Dan Settles and Tim Settles of Ratliff City, Okla.; uncle and aunt, Dan and Lucille Settles of Duncan, Okla.; and dear friends which are too numerous to mention.

The family suggests memorials to Harp Fund or Music Department of First Baptist Church

James H. (Hap) Harvey , died Saturday, September 2, 2006 in Fort Stockton. He was 71 years old.

Born December 3, 1934, in Plains, he was the son of Jack Bradley and Elsa Mae Everett Harvey. He was a man who dedicated his life to his family and his career in the oilfield. Me was a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Elsa Mae Harvey.

His wife, Eva Harvey, Fort Stockton, his sons, James W. and wife Billie Harvey, Fort Stockton and Doug and wife Juliann Harvey, Arlington survive him. As well as seven grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 5 in Plains Cemetery at 2 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Fort Stockton.

Justin Hager

Justin Hager, 19, Fort Stockton, died Friday, March 17, 2006. He was a counselor at Prude Ranch and a member of the Baptist Youth Group. Born June 27, 1986 in Silver City, N. M., Justin was the son of Kathy and Ralph Hager.
He moved to Fort Stockton in 1993 from La Pryor. He was employed as a correctional officer for the state of Texas.

He is survived by: his parents, Kathy and Ralph Hager; his brothers, Randy Hager and William Hager, both of Phoenix, Ariz.; his grandmothers, Hellen Faye Hager, Wichita, Kan. and Colleen Welch, Picacho, N. M.

Numerous aunts and uncles; and his nephews also survive.

Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, March 20 at the Fort Stockton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 21 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Fort Stockton. Reverend Ernie Waggoner will officiate. Cremation will follow. The family requests that memorials may be made to the Prude Ranch in Fort Stockton or the First Baptist Church Youth Group. One car accident kills Fort Stockton man

A 19-year-old Fort Stockton man was killed Friday afternoon when the 1995 Chevrolet Blazer he was driving on Gomez Road rolled over several times. He was the only occupant in the vehicle.

Justin Royce Hager, a correctional officer in the local facilty was pronounced dead at the accident scene at 4:02 p.m. according to the Department of Public Safety report.
The Blazer was eastbound on Gomez Road when it drifted to the right side shoulder off the road, swerved at least twice before rolling over several times and coming to rest in an upright position.

The passenger side rear wheel snapped loose from the axle and was found approximately 150 feet from the vehicle.

When a work crew from an area gas facility arrived at the scene they could not arouse Hager. Fort Stockton fire fighters used their equipment to cut away the door of the Blazer to allow removal of the victim.

Judge Joe Shuster pronounced Hager dead at the scene.

With no other officials available Judge Shuster was called to the scene from the visitation for his father who had died earlier in the week. Hager had been an employee of the Fort Stockton Pioneer before he went to work for the Department of Corrections

Robert Bryan Holman

Petra Madrid Melendez, 89, Fort Stockton, died Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at Fort Stockton. Born August 5, 1916 at Adobe, she was the daughter of Cruz and Romola Madrid.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Cruz and Romola Madrid; and her son, Jesus Melendez.

Surviving her are: her sons, Robert Melendez, Fort Stockton, Martias, and Phoenix, Ariz. And Luis Melendez, Snowflake, Ariz.; her daughter, Lupe Gomez, Lubbock; her brothers, Juan Madrid, Fort Stockton and Dario Madrid, Odessa; her sister, Madalena Carrillo, Lovington, N. M. 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren also survive her.

A rosary will be held Thursday, February 16 at St. Agnes Catholic Church at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Friday, February 17 at St. Agnes Catholic Church at 2 p.m. Father Floro Hinacay will officiate. Interment will be in the Fort Stockton catholic Cemetery . Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Fort Stockton.

Kathy Lynn Hamner

Kathy Lynn Hamner, 56, Fort Stockton, died February 5, 2006 at Fort Stockton. Born February 13, 1949, in Pecos, she was the daughter of Helen and Oliver Sullivan. A home health employee, Kathy had lived in Pecos for 25 years. She was an Eagles Mom.

She was preceded in death by her father, Oliver Sullivan.

Surviving her is: her mother, Helen Yancy, Fort Stockton; her sons, Michael Cope, Fort Stockton, Brandon Hamner, Odessa and Richard Hamner, Lubbock; and her sister, Sandra Alley, Richardson.

Funeral services for Kathy will be held Thursday, February 9, at 2 p.m. in the Church of Christ. Harold Durham will officiate. Interment will follow in the East Hill Cemetery . Arrangements are under the direction of Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

Ernest Hooker

Ernest Hooker, 88, Fort Stockton, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006. Born March 15, 1917, in Spicewood, he was the son of Eddie and Emma Prehn Hooker. Ernest was married to Edna Earl Rumsey. She preceded him in death.

In addition to his wife, Ernest was preceded in death by: his parents; his infant son; his brothers, Roy Hooker, Bill Hooker, Edwin Hooker and Malcom Hooker; his sisters, Lola Mae Parmer and Meta Jane Williams. He is survived by: his sons, Ernie Hooker, Fort Stockton and Curtis Hooker, Pipe Creek; his daughter, Mary Cicotte, San Antonio; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Ernest is also survived by: his brother, Richard Hooker, San Angelo; and his sister, Louise Crenwelge, San Angelo.

Visitation will be held Thursday, February 9 from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, Fort Stockton. Graveside services will be held Friday, February 10 at 2 p.m. Reverend Oscar Vegil will officiate

Truiet H. Hendrix, Sr.

After an unexpected and brief illness, Truiet H. Hendrix, Sr. died in Odessa Medical Center February 3, 2006 at age 70. Born May 9, 1935 in Bronte, Truiet Henry Hendrix was the third of five children born to Niva Ola Powell and Henry Lawson Hendrix.

Truiet H. Hendrix, Sr. was preceded in death by: his parents, Truiet Henry Hendrix and Niva Ola Powell; his sister, Barbara Luxton

He is survived by his wife and love of 49 years, Joy Lee Melton whom he married September 2, 1958, in Crane Texas; his son and only child Truiet H. Hendrix Jr. his wife Sally and their two children, Raymond, 19 and Alexandra, all of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by: his sisters, Gracie Handcock, Abilene, and Doris Vinson, Bakersfield, Calif.; his brother, Lawson Hendrix, San Angelo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

This quiet, gentle spirit will be deeply missed.

Visitation was held February 6, at the Ft. Stockton Funeral Home. Graveside services were held February 7, at East Hill Cemetery . Arrangements were under the direction of Fort Stockton Funeral Home, Fort Stockton.

Peggy S. Hasty

Peggy S. Hasty, 57, a convenience store manager, died Thursday, July 3, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Services were held Saturday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home. Burial was at East Hill Cemetery . Arrangements were by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Archer City and was a resident of Odessa. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

SURVIVORS: Sons, Randy Hasty of Grandbury and Jack M. Hasty Jr. of Dallas; daughter, Sue Bacon of Grandbury; brother, Roy C. Smith of Fort Stockton; sisters, Shaunda Buster and Christy Cook, both of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Thomas Carlton Hamilton

Thomas Carlton Hamilton, 62, of Fort Stockton, a surveyor for the Texas Department of Transportation, died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, in Fort Stockton. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, at the Fort Stockton Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Fleener officiating. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery . Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Live Oak and has been a resident of Fort Stockton since 1964. He was Baptist.

Julio Hernandez Sr.

Julio Hernandez Sr., 78, of Fort Stockton, a ranch foreman, died Friday, July 24, 1998, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital. Services will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Evelyn Scott officiating. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery . Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Presidio and had moved to Fort Stockton 48 years ago from Solem Springs, Ark. He was a Catholic.

SURVIVORS: Son, Julio Hernandez Jr. of Fort Stockton; daughter, Carolina Bloom of Odessa; sister, Sara Catano of Hawthorne,Calif.; and brother, Victorio Hernandez of Odessa.

James Thomas Hutchinson

James Thomas Hutchinson, 43, of Iraan died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998, in Iraan. Graveside services were Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, at Resthaven Cemetery . Arrangements by Richard W. Box Funeral Homes.

He was born in Pittsburg, Texas. He was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Wife, Dana Hutchinson of Iraan; mother, Mary Jane Hutchinson of Iraan; daughters, Amy Wilson of Monahans and Tonya Hutchinson of McKinney; son, Joe Tom Hutchinson of Alpine; step-daughter, Brittney Laneheart of Iraan; step-son, Will Lanehart of Iraan.

Cecil P. Howard, 80, died Sunday at his residence in Fort Stockton.

Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, 1990 in East Hill Cemetery , directed by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

Mr. Howard was born Feb. 7, 1910, in Carey. He was a retired hot oil truck driver and had resided in Fort Stockton since February of 1984, previously living in Odessa.

Survivors include his wife, Aubrey Howard of Fort Stockton; two daughters, Margetta Williams of Victorville, Calif., and Reba Sullivan of Fort Stockton; one step-son, Garland Green of Las Vegas, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Mary Frances Holmes

Mary Frances Holmes, Fort Stockton, died peacefully Aug. 26, 2007. She was 92 years old.
Born Aug. 29, 1915, in San Angelo, she was the daughter of Miles M. and Mattie Newton Brewer. Frances and Milton Holmes were married Jan. 10, 1952 and moved to Fort Stockton in January 1953. They resided both in Fort Stockton and at their ranch in Terrell County.

Frances was a member of the First United Methodist Church and active in women's work of the church and the United Methodist Women's organization for which she received a life membership pin.

She also was a long time member of the Extension Homemakers Club, the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Auxiliary, the Eagles Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Pecos County Senior Citizens Center.

Her parents, Miles M. and Mattie Newton Brewer; her husband, Milton Holmes; and her two sisters, Viola Brewer and Ina Gilly preceded her in death.

Frances is survived by her son, Richard F. Mitchell and wife, Mary, Virginia Beach, Va.; grandsons, Michael Mitchell, Virginia Beach, Va.; David Mitchell and wife, Linda, Melfa, Va.; and Jay Mitchell and wife, Julie, Atlanta, Ga. Her great grandson Zachery Mitchell, Melfa, Ga.; her great granddaughter, Cecilia Gay Mitchell, Atlanta, Ga.; her sister-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Ingham, San Angelo, and many nieces and nephews also survive her.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in Fort Stockton, the West Texas Boys Ranch or any favorite charity.
