Frank Edward Peterson, Jr.

Frank Edward Peterson, Jr. passed away in Olympia on November 30, 2006. He was born in Fort Stockton, Texas on August 11, 1919 to the union of Frank Edward Peterson, Sr. and Gertrude Robinson. During his early childhood, the Petersons moved to Ava, Missouri, where Frank was raised on a farm. While a teenager, he moved to Idaho.

In 1942 he entered the United States Army, and was eventually stationed at Fort Lewis before serving his country during World War II in campaigns in North Africa and Italy.

Frank was known by many members of the Olympia area for years. He worked at Hardel Plywood for many years, and was voted President of the company by its stockholders, for 15 of those years. He was an active member of the Lions Club and was a happy and hardworking man throughout his life. He enjoyed life and the people he met as he passed through it. Frank enjoyed fishing and hunting, which included several trips to Alberta, Canada and Alaska. He loved the outdoors. He loved his family more than anything else in his life, and he spent many hours in outdoor activities with them.

Frank married Marjorie Loftin in Olympia in 1946; she preceded him in death in 1978. Frank then married Betty Kisor in Olympia in 1981. She continued to be his companion until the time of his death. He is survived by two children from his first marriage, Linda (Tim) Martin and Todd (Denise) Peterson; two sisters, Vada Thomsen, of Lacey, and Vivian Turner, of Missouri; and one brother, Robert Peterson, of Idaho; stepchildren, Barbara Brite, Jackie (Mike) Blankenship, Marjorie (Chris) Carras, and Jeff (Julie) Dilly. Frank was a grandfather to 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Three brothers and three sisters passed away before him.

James Larry Powell

James Larry Powell, 65, of Odessa, and formerly of Iraan, died at his home Saturday, March 18, 2000, in Odessa. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the Restland Cemetery in Iraan with the Rev. Dan Fontenot officiating. Services are under the direction of Shafter-Nichols Chapel of Iraan.

Larry was born April 8, 1934, in McCamey to Owen Kermit Powell and Pansy Cameron Powell. He attended public school in Iraan, graduating in May of 1952 as valedictorian of his graduating class. He served as president of the student council during high school. He attended Abilene Christian University from 1952 to 1956 and earned a bachelor of science degree in biochemistry in May of 1956, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He also attended the University of Texas Dental School and served in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a chemist in Odessa for Continental Products for more than 10 years. He was a member of the Washington Avenue Church of Christ in Odessa.

Larry was run over by a drunk driver while riding a small motorcycle when he was 12 years old and survived the accident with serious head injuries. He began to suffer from seizures in his teens, and the problems stemming from his head injury continued to progress until he was forced to take disability in his 50s. Regardless of his suffering, he always had a smile on his face and befriended anyone he encountered. He will be sorely missed by his friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. O.K. Powell of lraan; his older brother, Owen Kermit Powell Jr.; his youngest brother, Gene Allen Powell; and his nephew, Steven Neal Howell. Larry is survived by his sister, Mary Ann Knight and brother-in-law, Earl K. Knight, of Odessa; nephew, Kenneth Wayne Howell of San Antonio; niece, Helen Marie Kashiwa; one great-niece, Alyssa Kashiwa; and one great-nephew, Patrick Kashiwa, all of Pomona, N.Y.; a very special friend, Berta Calzada, of Odessa; and a host of other friends and neighbors.

Cruz S. Porras, Jr., 70, Fort Stockton, died Friday, March 24, 2006 at Fort Stockton.

Born January 20, 1936 in San Diego Villa Aldamach, Mexico, he was the son of Cruz Porras Saldana and Paz Saldana. He was the grandson of Luciano Porras and Luisa Subia. His parents and grandparents preceded him in death, in addition to his sister, Irene Gallegos Porras and his brothers, Santiago Saldana Porras, Juan Saldana Porras and Antonio Saldana Porras. He was united in marriage to Antonia Porras.

Cruz is survived by: his wife, Antonia; his daughters, Teresa Sanchez Porras and Graciela Sotelo Porras, both of Fort Stockton and Manuela Fidela Porras, Enid, Okla.; his brothers, Luciano Porras Saldana, Jose Porras Saldana, and Manuel Porras Saldana, all of Chih, Mexico; and his sister, Lisa Mesa Porras, Fort Stockton. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 26 in the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. Internment will be in East Hill Cemetery

Ofelia Dominguez Primera, 66, Fort Stockton, died Monday, February 6, 2006 at Odessa. Born December 10, 1939 at Fort Stockton, Ofelia was the daughter of Santos Carrillo and Trinidad Dominguez. Ofelia and Pablo Primera were united in marriage and were together for over 50 years.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; and her brother, Alberto Carrillo.

Surviving Ofelia is: her husband, Pablo Primera, Fort Stockton; her sons, Paatricio Primera and Ruben Carrillo, both of Fort Stockton; her daughter, Maria Anita Fuentes, Miami, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by: her brothers Juan Carrillo, McCamey and Santos Carrillo, Odessa; and her sister, Maria Martinez, Fort Stockton

A rosary was held February 8 at St. Agnes Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held February 9 at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Fort Stockton. Father Floro Hinacay will officiate. Interment will be in Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery . Arrangements are under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Fort Stockton.

Ruben Gonzales Prado, 58, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 at Midland Memorial Hospital, after a long battle with Lupus. Born May 13, 1947 at Fort Stockton, he served four years in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He attended the University of Texas of the Permian Basin where he received a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration. He worked as an accountant until the last eight years of his life.

Ruben is survived by his wife of 38 years, Diane, Odessa; his children, Ruben P Prado and his wife, Janetta, Midland, and Shannon R. Isarraraz and her husband, Juan, Del Rio; his brother, Manuel Prado Jr. and his wife, Jan, Dallas; and five grandchildren, Katherine A. Thomas A., and Sarah M. Prado, all of Midland, Raylor R. and Brian J. Isarraraz, both of Del Rio.

Memorial services were held January 3 with Military honors, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, Odessa. Arrangements were under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Charles Edwin ``Bozo'' Perry, 66, a night watchman, died Friday, Aug. 15, 1997, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. Graveside services were held Friday at Imperial Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Snavely officiating. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Dundee, Okla., and was a resident of Imperial since 1945.

Willie K. Pool, 79, of Fort Stockton, a retired hospital food service worker, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1998, in Fort Stockton. Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Home with the Rev. Skip Hill officiating. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery . Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Sheffield and had lived in Fort Stockton since 1955, having moved from Carlsbad, N.M. She was Baptist.

Sammie L. Pfiester, 79, of Georgetown, a bookkeeper and secretary, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at her residence. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Larry Krueger officiating. Burial will be at Easthill Cemetery . Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Fort Stockton and had recently moved to Georgetown from Fort Stockton. She was a Methodist.

Josephine "Josie" Peabody, 91, of Imperial, a homemaker, died Monday, July 20, 1998, in Crane. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Old Imperial Community Center with the Rev. Harold Scarbrough officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. at East Hill Cemetery . Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Elmo and had been a resident of Imperial since 1953 after moving from north Pecos County. She was a Baptist.

William "W. H." Poitevint, 81, of Sanderson died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Sanderson. He was born in Balmorhea and was a World War II veteran.

Joseph "Joe" C. Pool, 76, of Fort Stockton, a retired heavy equipment operator, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, in Big Spring. He was born in Marietta and moved to Fort Stockton in 1947 from Cisco. He was Baptist.

Carl E. Peeples, 87, of Fort Stockton, a dirt contractor, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1998, in Fort Stockton. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. He was born in Whon and moved to Fort Stockton in 1963 from Rocksprings. He was Methodist.

She was born in Royalty and moved to Fort Stockton from Imperial in 1963.

W. T. Page, 81, of Fort Stockton, a head foreman for a chemical company, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, in Fort Stockton.

He was born in Carmona. He was Methodist.

Gilbert Rodriguez Ponce, 24, of Monahans, an employee for Halliburton, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, in Odessa.

A rosary will be said at 8 p.m. today at Harkey Family Funeral Services Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. John Catholic Church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.

He was born in Fort Stockton.

Gary Clayton Puckett

Gary Clayton Puckett, 48, of Fort Davis died Thursday, May 14, 1998, at his residence. Graveside service will be at 4 p.m. today in Hillcrest Cemetery in Fort Davis. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home.

He was born Oct. 10, 1949, in Fort Stockton and had lived in Fort Davis since 1976. He was a rancher and a member of the Davis Mountain Heritage and Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association.

Survivors include his wife, Mary H. Puckett of Fort Davis; two sons, Worth C. Puckett and Matt C. Puckett, both of Fort Davis; his parents, Jerry and Jane Puckett of Fort Stockton; a brother, Roger Puckett of Fort Stockton; a sister, Leslye P. Curnutt; and two grandchildren.
