Frank Rodriguez

Frank Rodriguez, 91, of Fort Stockton, a former maintenance worker for the highway department, died Friday, April 6, 2007, in Fort Stockton.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the Fort Stockton Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Arturo Pestin officiating. Burial will be at Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery . Arrangements are by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Fort Stockton. He was Catholic.

SURVIVORS Son, Ruben Rodriguez of Fresno, Calif.; daughters, Ida Sanchez, Evangelina Lujan and Alicia Barron, all of Fort Stockton, and Maria Rodriguez of Lafayette, La.; sisters, Amelia Ramirez and Adelida Lopez, both of Fort Stockton, Terresa Rivera of Ceres, Calif., and Aurora Herrera and Elaine Villalobos, both of Baldwin Park, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren
Elvia Renee Rey

Elvia Renee Rey, 23, of Imperial, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Pecos County Memorial Hospital. Funeral Mass was Jan. 19 at the Old Community Building in Imperial. Father Nilo officiated. Burial was at Imperial Cemetery .

Rey was born Nov. 14, 1980 in Monahans to Jose and Marie Rey.
She is survived by her father, Jose Rey of Imperial; brothers Frankie Cadena of Okla.; Jerry Cadena of Childress and J.J. Rey of Imperial; sisters Vivian Rey of Imperial, Adela Chavez, Celia Rey and Connie Rey, all of Odessa; four nephews and six nieces.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Cadena Rey.

Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.
Apolonio E. Rodriguez, 96, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Home Hospice. He was born on February 9, 1911, in Grandfalls, TX, to Teodoro and Faustina E. Rodriguez. He was a Christian Catholic and a farmer.

He is preceded in death by his wife Dominga Vigil, parents, Teodoro and Faustina E. Rodriguez, brothers, Rito and Teodoro Rodriguez and sister: Manuela Rodriguez. He is survived by his sons: Apolonio Rodriguez Jr. and wife Ester, Angel Rodriguez and wife Eva, all of Odessa, TX, and Gabriel Rodriguez of Kermit, TX; daughter: Manuela Serna of Lovington, NM; grandchildren: Elizabeth and Joe Escalante, Apolonio and Joyee Rodriguez, Amy and fiance Josh Alford, Ariel Rodriguez, Yedenia Rodriguez, Terri Serna and Jeremy Serna; and great-grandchildren: Joey, Nicholas, Cristan, Emalie, Madison, Mallory, Brianna, Patrick, Adrian, and Sylas.

Visitation was held from 9:00 am to 9:00 p.m. yesterday with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with Ms. Romelia Ornelas officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. today, May 4, 2007, in Imperial, TX with Deacon Julio Carrasco officiating. Burial will be at Imperial Cemetery.

Hipolito Rascon

Hipolito Rascon, the father of David Rascon of Snyder, died Monday, June 16,2003

Rosary for Mr. Rascon, 87, is set for 7 this evening in the St. Agnes Catholic Church. Funeral service is set for 10 a.m. Thursday in the St. Agnes Church and burial will follow in the Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.

Born Aug. 22, 1915 in Fort Stockton, he married Angelina Galindo on Nov. 8, 1946 in Fort Stockton.

He was a U.S. veteran of World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars while serving in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Liborio and Estefana Rascon; a son, Ramon Rascon; two brothers, Domingo and Antonio Rascon; a sister, Viviana Mejia; and a great-granddaughter, Justine LeRay Perez.

Survivors include his wife, Angelina Rascon of Fort Stockton; three other sons, Joel Rascon of San Angelo, Daniel Rascon of Sarasota, Fla., and Hipolito Rascon Jr. of Fort Stockton; three daughters, Ernestina Sanchez, Criselda Rascon and Susanna Dominguez, all of Fort Stockton; a brother, Luciano Rascon of Fort Stockton; four sisters, Fernanda Thompson of Littlefield, Candida Salcido, Meregilda Carrasco and Adislada Gutierrez, all of Fort Stockton; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Odessa V. Reed

Odessa V. Reed, 87, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, in an Abilene hospital.

Chapel service was 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, at Community Memorial Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd St., Abilene, Texas. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, in East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton, Texas. Joseph King, great-nephew of Mrs. Reed, will officiate.

Mrs. Reed was born in Lorena, Texas, to Harry and Eula O’Bryant Hill on Jan. 22, 1919. She was a longtime resident of Pecos County and had recently moved to Abilene to be near her family. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in San Angelo.

She married Richard M. Reed in Fort Stockton in 1942. Odessa was a member of the Eastern Star and owner/operator of a beauty salon for many years. She loved to play 42.

Survivors include her husband, Richard “Bud” Reed; sisters Marie Cantwell of Port Townsend, Wash., Frances Lannom of Weatherford, Okla., and Louise Oma of Fort Worth; and numerous other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Maggie Page, Minnie Reed and Lida Mae Oma; and brothers Bob, Dawson, Tom and Charles Hill.

Fidelia Comacho Rosales

Fidelia Comacho Rosales, 81, of Iraan, passed away Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at her residence. She was a resident of Iraan for 37 years and was Catholic. She was born April 5, 1919, in Rosita, Coahuila, Mexico. She was married to Pedro Rosales Nov. 25, 1939, in Palav, Coahuila, Mexico.

She is survived by her husband, Pedro Rosales of Iraan; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brigido and Eva Rosales and Johnny and Rita Rosales, all of Iraan; one brother, Susano Comacho of Mexico; one sister, Beatrice Comacho and husband Jesus Gonzales, of Mexico; three granddaughters and their husbands, Consuelo and Juan Barrera of Iraan, Lupe and Fili Gonzales of Temple and Juanita and John Barrick of Alabama; six grandsons and their wives, Pedro and Penny Rosales of Abilene, Oscar and Tara Rosales of Big Lake, Robert and Terri Rosales of Decatur, Joe and Lorena Rosales of Aztec, N.M., Joe and Shannon Rosales of San Angelo and Johnny and Mary Rosales of San Diego; two grandsons, Johnny Rosales of Iraan and Joe Rosales of Crane; one daughter-in-law, Maria de la Cruz of Crane; and 24 great-grandchildren

STATE EDUCATOR IS DEAD IN TEXAS

A. A. Rogers, 62 years old died Tuesday morning, Feb. 2, 1938 at his home in Iraan, Texas where he was superintendent of schools.

Obituary mentions brothers in Oklahoma City: J. J. Rogers, Z. Z. Rogers, E. E. Rogers, D. D. Rogers, Kansas City, a daughter, Mrs. Mart Brown; a sister, Mrs. S. E. Patton, and three sons, I. I., G. G. and C. C. Rogers all of Iraan.

Steven Hamilton Ramirez

Steven Hamilton Ramirez, 24, Fort Stockton, died Friday, April 14 in Monahans. Born May 29, 1981 in Odessa he was Steve and Becky Ramirez. He was a meter reader with an electric company. A life long resident of Fort Stockton, he loved sports, especially baseball and football. He was a Baptist.

He is survived by: his parents, Steve and Becky Ramirez, Fort Stockton; his daughters Aaliyah Ramirez, Fort Stockton and Kaitlin Hernandez, Monahans; his sister, Stefanie Ramirez, Fort Stockton; his brother, Eric Ramirez, El Paso; and his grandmothers Samona Ramirez, Fort Stockton and Billie Peters, McCamey.

Services were Tuesday, April 18, at First Baptist Church. Reverend Gary Dunn and Reverend John O'Connell officiated. Interment was in East Hill Cemetery . Fort Stockton Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Automobile collision with ferel pig kills local man, injures child

A one-car roll over accident resulted in the death of a 26 year old Fort Stockton man Friday night.

Steven Hamilton Ramirez, Fort Stockton died at 10:47 p.m. Friday after his 2002 Ford Explorer hit a wild pig on State Highway 18 at 9:39 p.m.
The vehicle was traveling north on Highway 18 approximately 2.4 miles south of Grandfalls.

The vehicle swerved to the right and then over-corrected to the left, which caused the vehicle to skid sideways and roll on its side.

Injured in the accident was Ramirez' daughter, Kaitlin Hernandez, Monahans, age six months, who was treated for a broken clavicle and abrasions at Ward County Memorial Hospital. She was in good condition.

Ramirez was wearing a seat belt and his daughter was in a car seat properly attached in the vehicle.

Guadalupe Flores Rivera

Guadalupe Flores Rivera, 79, Fort Stockton, died January 26, 2006. Born December 12, 1926, in Boquillas Coach, Mexico she was the daughter of Ines and Sara Gamez Flores. Guadalupe and Jesus O. Rivera were united in marriage March 23, 1943 at Boquillas Coach, Mexico.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her sons, Jesus Rivera and Antonio Rivera; her daughters, Santos Rivera and Rosa Ime Rivera; her brothers, Genaro Flores, Cayetano Flores and Adolfo Flores; and her sister, Maria Flores.

Surviving Guadalupe is: her sons, Enrique Rivera, Jose Angel Rivera, Rolando Rivera, Jesse Rivera, Jesus Ureste, and Armando Ureste, all of Fort Stockton, and Juan River, Snyder; her daughters, Sixta Ureste, Romelia Hernandez, Hilda Hinojos, Elda Nino and Elva Rosa Rivera, all of Fort Stockton. She is also survived by: her sisters, Carolina Flores, Javoncio Coach, Mexico, Rosa Maria Flores and Refugia Flores, Muzquiz Coach, Mexico; 36 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Guadalupe were held Sunday January 29 at Templo Buen Pastor Church, Fort Stockton. Felimon Ponce officiated. Interment was in East Hill Cemetery . Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Fort Stockton.

Jesus Rodriguez

Jesus Rodriguez, 80, Fort Stockton, died Sunday, January 22, 2006 at Odessa. Born December 25, 1925 at Fort Stockton, he was the son of Benito and Maria Rangel Rodriguez. He served in the United States Navy from 1943 until 1946.

He is survived by: his sons, Luis Rodriguez, Fort Stockton and Jose and his wife Vivian Rodriguez, Artesia, N. M.; his daughter, Rachel Hill, Poteet; and his sister, Cruz Pacheco, Fort Stockton. He is also survived by: nine grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren and two great-great-great-grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.

A rosary was held January 23 at the Memorial Funeral Home, Fort Stockton. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 24 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Fort Stockton. Father Floro Hinacay officiated. Interment was in Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery . Arrangements were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home

Anais Milagros Rodriguez

Anais Milagros Rodriguez, 12 days old, died January 8, 2006 at Fort Stockton. Born December 28, 2005, in Odessa, she was the daughter of William III and Angelica (Ulloa) Rodriguez, Fort Stockton.

She is survived by: her parents, William and Angelica Rodriguez III; her paternal grandparents, William and Flora Rodriguez Jr., Monahans; her maternal grandparents, Vicente and Angelica Ulloa, Fort Stockton; her brothers, Damian Rodriguez and Jayden Rodriguez, both of Fort Stockton; and her sister Julissa Rodriguez, Fort Stockton.

Funeral services were held Monday, January 9, 2006 at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was in Fort Stockton Catholic Cemetery , Fort Stockton. Arranagements were under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home, Fort Stockton.

Catarina F. ``Kate'' Ramos, 69, longtime owner/operator of C&F Laundry, died Monday, June 9, 1997, in Fort Stockton. Rosary was said Tuesday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fort Stockton with the Rev. Joe Vasquez officiating. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery . She was a lifetime resident of Fort Stockton and a Catholic.

Margarita Gamboa Rivera

Margarita Gamboa Rivera, 62, of Fort Stockton, a homemaker, died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at her residence. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel with Juan Ortiz officiating. Burial will be at East Hill Cemetery . Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Sanderson and had been a resident of Fort Stockton since 1974 after moving from Sanderson. She a was a member of the Jehovah's Witness of Fort Stockton Kingdom Hall.

He was born in Fort Stockton and was a lifelong resident. He was a Catholic.

Consuelo V. Ramirez

Consuelo V. Ramirez, 72, of Fort Stockton, a homemaker, died Monday, April 23, 2007, in Fort Stockton.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was born in Valentine.

Survivors Husband, Celedonio R. Ramirez of Fort Stockton; sons, Celedonio Ramirez Jr. and Jamie Ramirez, both of Fort Stockton; daughters, Rosie Ramirez and Margie Bustos, both of Fort Stockton; brother, Ben Vallejo of El Paso; sisters, Estella Barraza of Valentine, Ida Morales of Amarillo and Elvira Melendez of Alpine; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren

Louise Ray

Louise Ray passed away after a short illness Friday, May 18, 2007, while in the 4 Corners HealthCare Center in Durango, Colo. Louise was 88 years young.

Louise was born Oct. 21, 1918, in Miles, Texas, to Huby and Nettie Clarke. After graduating from Mary Hardin-Baylor with a degree in education, she married Gilbert Ray in Miles on June 8, 1941. Gilbert and Louise moved to Fort Stockton, Texas, in 1947 with one son, Ron. The couple later had a daughter, Lissa, in 1954.
Mrs. Ray retired after 24 years of teaching in Fort Stockton. Her husband, Gilbert, preceded Louise in death in December 1999. She moved to Cortez, Colo., in 2002, where she resided at Vista Mesa Assisted Living Residence.

Surviving her are son Ron and his wife, Karin Ray, of Canyon Lake, Texas; her daughter, Lissa Ray and husband Harry Riegle of Durango, Colo.; and two granddaughters, Christi Garner of Los Gatos, Calif., and Haley Garner of Durango.

There will be a family memorial service on Wednesday, May 23, at Vista Mesa in Cortez, Colo. Graveside services will be scheduled in the future for internment in Miles, Texas.

Jewel K. (Mickey) Riggs

Jewel K. (Mickey) Riggs, 90, of Lubbock, a homemaker, died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at East Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Larry Krueger officiating. Arrangments by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

She was born in Atlanta, Texas, and had lived in Lubbock since 1997 after moving from Fort Stockton. She was Methodist.

SURVIVORS: Daughters, Barbara L. Brooks of Abilene and Cherrye A. Kerley of Kennewick, Wash.; sister, Wilma Clark of Crane; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren

Gerardo Ramirez, 53, of Fort Stockton, a route sales vendor, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in Fort Stockton. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Agnes Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Garcia officiating. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at St. Agnes Cemetery. Arrangements by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.

He was born in Fort Stockton and was a lifelong resident. He was Catholic.
