Fairview Cemetery, Sep 1870,"This cemetery is located in
the southwest quadrant of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES:
Datum WGS84: 33 Deg 36.534N, 95 Deg 04.375W. This cemetery is
located a short 1/4 mile southwest of the intersection of Hwy
82 and Hwy 37 in the west edge of Clarksville. The Clarksville
Cemetery Association made purchase of 8 acres from J. M. Mims
et ux on 14 Dec 1895 and filed for record on 18 Dec 1895 in Book
CH Vol30 Page 522. The Hebrew Cemetery Association made purchase
of 2 acres from J. M. Mims et ux on 14 Dec 1895, this deed being
filed for record on 8 Oct 1900 in Book CH Vol 39 Page 549. The
Fairview Cemetery Association then purchased 7.87 acres from
A. C. Thomason et ux on 20 Dec 1941 and filed for record on 22
Dec 1941 in Book CH Vol 155 Page 320. All these lands are from
the John M. Ritchey headright survey. The oldest marked burial
is that of David C. Russell who died in Sep 1870. This cemetery
was surveyed in October 1999 by Lawrence and Sue Dale. The only
change in the geography of the cemetery is the start of Section
12 directly east and across from Section 4, having only three
burials at this time. We visited the site again on 29 Jan 2003
and took the GPS readings. We were on site again on 3, 4, 5 and
6 Nov 2004 and did a complete rewalk of the cemetery."
