Manchester Cemetery,
24 Sep 1869,"This cemetery is located in the northwest quadrant
of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84: 33
Deg 50.106N, 95 Deg 09.521W. Manchester Cemetery is located about
17 1/2 miles NW of Clarksville. To reach the cemetery, go north
on Hwy 37 about 10 miles to Negley, west onto FM 2118 to intersection
with FM 195. The road to the cemetery is near the NE corner of
the intersection and is marked. It contains about four acres
and is on the Sally Reed headright survey. A deed dated 28 Sep
1869 and filed for record on 25 Mar 1871 in Book CH Vol S Page
13 conveys property on 'Sally Reed survey 18 miles northwest
57,000 Sq Vrs to Christian Union Church' from Joseph Alsobrook
et ux to Manchester Cemetery. The oldest marked burial is that
of Adelia Gear, a child who died 24 Sep 1869. It was surveyed
on 24 and 25 January 1997 by Lawrence and Sue Dale. On one of
the first 'fall' days on 17 Sep 1999 we rewalked this cemetery
for quality control. We were there again on 11 Jan 2004 to get
the GPS coordinates. We also did a re walk of the cemetery adding
new burials and noting marker changes."
