Prentice Watson Cemetery, 4 Oct 1881,"This cemetery is located in the southwest quadrant of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84: 33 Deg 35.450N, 95 Deg 12.236W, El 461 ft. This cemetery is about 8 miles west of Clarksville on the Jan Kay Ranch. Please do not attempt to find this on your own as it is well off the beaten path. The survey and records were not located in the deed books of RRCo TX. The oldest marked, dated burial is that of Crawford W. Ferguson who died 4 October 1881. While there are only 7 marked burials there appears to be maybe 40 gravesites within the area either marked by a plank, post or a depression in the ground. One of the Jan Kay wives, Dottie Nance, took time from her duties to drive us to the cemetery site and helped in the recording of information. This cemetery was surveyed by Lawrence and Sue Dale on 22 Nov 1999. We visited the site again on 17 Mar 2004 and took the GPS readings. We were taken to the site by a grandson of the owner and he took photographs of the markers."
