Ward Cemetery 25 Aug 1855,"This cemetery is located in the northwest quadrant of Red River County, Texas. GPS COORDINATES: Datum WGS84: 33 Deg 40.376N, 95 Deg 12.319W, El 427 ft. This cemetery is located northwest of the Bagwell community. It is supposedly on Wards Creek on land owned by Frank and Sybil Bush Coffman. The grave areas are well fenced with a chain link type fence. There are also burials of 7 Negro slaves here and are marked collectively. From an included obituary, name of this cemetery is referred to as L. W. Ward Cemetery. The earliest marked burial is that of child of L. W. and Melvina M. Ward, Charley, who died on 25 Aug 1855. This cemetery was surveyed by Lawrence and Sue Dale on 15 Nov 1999. We visited the site again on 17 Feb 2004 and took the GPS readings. We also did a re walk of the cemetery checking for new burials and noting marker changes."
