CHRISTIAN, HARDIN, KEITH, SAUNDERS, TYSON posted by Monique Allen Keith on Tuesday, March 3, 1998

I am looking for marriage records and land deeds on Henry TYSON and Elizabeth TYSON. They are buried on their old farm near Cunningham, Tx in some graves that are all but lost to the family and to the current land owner. Markers are broken but still there and dates go back to Henry being born in 1818 and died april 28, 1883. Elizabeth TYSON was born in 1812 and died in 1877. Any information or a point in the right direction will be most appreciated. These two people are my husband's 2nd great grandparents on his father's side. Their daughter (Elizabeth TYSON)married John N KEITH and they had Grover Cleveland KEITH who is my husband's grandfather. John died when Grover was about 2 and Elizabeth TYSON KEITH married Ed HARDIN. She had more children but then divorced him. She lived and raised her family on her parents farm in Cunningham, Texas where Grover KEITH and several of his siblings also raised their families. Most of the farm has now been sold and is owned by a large landowner. the 2 graves are on that section of the land. my husband's aunt still owns a portion of the land. I am just trying to establish when the TYSON'S came to Texas in order to trace the family back further. thanks, Monique KEITH

CODY, DICKINSON, GRIGG, GRIGGS, LEE, MCCLESKEY, MCCLURE, PRUITT, SENTER, SMITH, WEST posted by Sharon Shumate on Sunday, March 8, 1998

Looking for information on Sarah LEE who married William CODY; both are buried in East Post Oak Cemetery. Looking for information on John Louis MCCLESKEY, his wives Jane WEST and Sarah Frances PRUITT, and his children by them, which totaled more than 15. Jane WEST was probably born around Paris, as was her daughter Rhoda by John L. MCCLESKEKY. Jane died about 1885 when Rhoda was about 1 year old. Rhoda was left with an aunt and uncle named MCCLURE, given names unknown. Rhoda later married James Jasper SMITH, settled in Lamar Co., OK, died and both are buried there. John MCCLESKEY took his sons John David and Walter and married Sarah Frances PRUITT, most likely about 1886. Together they had about 13 children, 3 of whom lived. Sarah and John MCCLESKEY moved between Mena, AR, and Paris, TX, several times. John Louis MCCLESKEY died about 1900 near Ben Franklin, TX. Sarah PRUITT was probably from the Paris/Ladonia, TX, area. She had at least 3 sisters and a brother or cousin living with them at one time. One of the sisters Belle married W.L. DICKINSON about 1899. Another sister Nancy married a Mr. SENTER; a third sister Martha married a Mr. GRIGG. I have only found evidence of the marriage of Belle and W.L. DICKINSON. It is possible the other marriages took place near Ladonia, TX. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Lela DODSON was born Feb.23, 1883. Her mom was a Choctaw Indian and her dad was white. Sometime during her childhood, something happened that sent her mom back to her tribe and Lela to an orphanage because she was a halfbreed. We think a man named William ODELL may have taken her into his home because my dad remembers a Grandpa ODELL in his youth. In July of 1902, Lela married Grant LAUCHNER.

GARNER, GUEST, MARTIN, TEAL posted by Cindy Johnson on Wednesday, March 25, 1998

Searching for connection between the John Nance GARNER, III family and my mother, Daisy Gertrude Teal MARTIN. In the early 1930s, attorneys for the GARNER family contacted my grandparents, James Charlie TEAL and Effie Jane Parker TEAL of Rockingham, NC, while settling an estate. I don't know whose estate, but rather assume it to be Sarah Jane Guest GARNER since she died in 1932. I should mention that my grandparents were from Rockingham , North Carolina. There was a small distribution to my grandparents (feel that connection on my grandmother's side) and I would like to know just what the connection is. Does anyone search probate records? I would welcome any help. Many thanks.
