1st Baptist Church of Rockwall History The oldest church in Dallas Baptist Association, the First Baptist Church of Rockwall was organized 24 Aug 1852 in the home of Mr. J.C. Williams. The original name was "The New Hope Baptist Church of Christ." That name stuck for twenty years as they met in homes and rural school houses. In 1872 a house of worship was erected at the corner of East Washington and South Goliad Streets and they renamed the congregation as the First Baptist Church of Rockwall. A second building was erected at 306 East Rusk in 1908.The M.L. Jones Chapel was built in 1970 at the corner of South Goliad and Boydston. Expansions included educational, office and fellowship space in 1983 and 1992. The current worship center was completed in 2000. Throughout the church's history there have been 44 different Pastors with the last two serving a combined 46 years. **MORE COMING SOON**
