Mary Louise Loving

October 1891

Loving-Mary L. Loving (nee Hamilton) was born in Adair County, Kentucky, 1834; professed religion and joined the Methodist Church at the age of sixteen; was married to J. G. Loving November 1859; came with her husband and family to Texas in 1870; lived in Farmersville, Collin County Texas, nine years; thence to Fate, Rockwall County, where she lived until the day of her death, which occured October 3, 1891, qat 2:15 a.m. Sister Loving was the mother of six children-all are alive--five married, two of whom and her husband are members of the church. For a number of years sister Loving was afflicated with rheumatism, causing the most intense suffering; yet the grace of God enabled her to bear her afflications with such Christian resignation that it was truly a benediction to be in her presence. The crowning glory of her Christianity was manifested in her last moments. When her suffering caused the light of God's love illuminated the dark valley and shadow of death so that she was enabled to say of the last day, "that is was the brightest day she ever saw." Her death was truly a blessing to all present, especially to her family, who had watched her with so much solicitude. Ben H. Bounds Rosalie, Texas
