ETHEL BLAIR
 
STERLING CITY — Ethel Blair, 93, passed away at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, in Sterling County Nursing Home. She was born May 16, 1911, to M. W. and Minnie Smith in New Mexico. Ethel lived in Sterling County most of her life and spent two years in New Mexico as a child. On Oct. 26, 1935, Ethel married John I. Blair. Out of that union was born one son, Billy Joe Blair. Ethel and John were married for 57 years until John’s death in 1993.
John and Ethel moved to Mertzon, Texas, in 1940 and worked on the Martin Reed Ranch for 16 years, the birthplace of their son. In July 1956, Ethel and her family returned to Sterling City, and lived the remainder of her life in Sterling City. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and three brothers. Ethel is survived by her son, Billy Joe
Blair and wife Danna of Sterling City; one sister Babe Keller and husband Jack of California; and several nieces and nephews. Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, at the Church of Christ in Sterling City. The family requests memorials be sent to Sterling County Nursing Home, West Texas Rehab, and West Texas Boys Ranch.
