As hard as we all try, we are human and sometimes when reading a cemetery we miss a grave covered with leaves, fireants, or bushes. Sometimes the headstone has sunk and is mostly underground. This area also has many graves only marked with iron ore rocks and even many unmarked graves. There are headstones that have long ago been destroyed by the elements or even vandalizm, and are hard to impossible to read the details. We would appreciate it if you would let us know if you did not find your relative which was buried
here, and would appreciate your letting us use the information you know about them. With the combined efforts of us all, we can make the Upshur County website bigger and better.

Boyd, Syah	1881	1982	Death Certificate; Turner Bros. Funeral Home Marker; Syah Lawrence Boyd born 1 Oct 1881, died 22 Feb 1982, married Luvenia.  His parents were both born in Kentucky.  According to the 1910 Federal Census he and Luvenia were living in Hardin Co., Tx., and had two daughters, L. J. born 1903 in Tx., and L.A. born 1907 in Texas.  They had a daughter, Luvenia born 1922, a son, James C. Boyd born 1923, son, George born 1924.  "Uncle Sy" was a hard-working farmer and worked for Mr. J.C. "Cliff" Langford for many years on his farm in the Latch Community.  Uncle Sy lived his later years in the Gilmer Convalescent Center where he enjoyed the Christian Church Services and would proclaim his love for Christ often and would add "Tell the Truth" as the minister would preach.  Submitted by Ron Wade.
