Per Ronald WadeDr. William Horace Saunders, born in Canada, married 10 Apr 1873 to Mary V. Saunders (1853-1913).  They were parents of Lizzie Saunders (1875-1883) and Mary L. Saunders (born about 1877 who married a Mr. Finley and was divorced by the 1900 Census living in Upshur Co with her 2-year old son Donald Finley and her widowed mother).  During the Civil War he enlisted May 1861 and served as a Captain in Co. H, (Bates 1) 2nd Tennessee Regiment, under Capt. W. H. Henry, and Capt. Charles P. Moore through 1865.  He was wounded in the arm in the Battle of Ringold Gap, Ga. on 27 Nov 1863.   His widow was approved for a Confederate Widow's Pension on 10 Oct 1910.

Per Ronald WadeJames H. Shannon, born in Ohio Co., Ky.,  the son of Thomas Shannon, a Kentucky Plantation owner.  He married Bitha Shannon (1857-1936) on 14 Feb 1878 in Upshur Co., Tx. and their children included Mae Shannon (born about 1886 d. 1971 and buried in Little Rock--Mae married 1st to Alphens White of Gilmer Texas and 2nd to Dreadon Phillips of Little Rock Arkansas) , and James Shannon (1893-1900).  During the Civil War he enlisted 15 May 1861 in Montgomery Co., Alabama in Co. B, 6th Alabama Infantry Regiment under Col. Seabels which later was Co. L.   He was wounded in the Battle of Seven Pines May 31 in Henrico Co., Va. and in the Hospital for 4 months for recovery although he had disabilities the remainder of his life and he received a Disability Discharge 29 Nov 1862.  On 30 Aug 1914 his widow applied for a Confederate Widow's Pension.
