Mrs. Hannah Carr 

Mrs. Hannah Carr was born in Upshur County, Gilmer, Texas on March 22, 1901 to Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Jeffery. She united with Mt. Gilead Baptist Church at an early age and attended there until illness hampered her. She was always present and lent full support to Christian activities at other congregations as well. 

She was married to John Carr and to this union nine children were born. She is survived by one brother, Mose Jeffery, Gilmer; one sister, Ona D. Starnes, Gilmer; one son, Jeff Carr, Gilmer; eight daughters, Leola Elder, Gilmer, Lula Mae Patterson and Jessie Mae Hoskins, Longview,  Verlena Cummings, Dorothy Joe Bonner and Margaret Busby, Ft. Worth; Paralee Strong and Luecressie Nesbitt, of Dallas; one step-son, Travis Carr and one step-daughter, Eddie Mae Ervin, Gilmer; thirty-seven grandchildren; forty-seven great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Clemmie Ree Ray 

Sister Clemmie Ree Ray was born on January 16, 1922 in Gilmer, Texas to Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bauchaum. She attended public school in Ore City, Texas and high school in Gilmer, Texas. She confessed a hope in Christ with the New Mountain Baptist Church, Ore City, Texas. In later years, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas in the Greenway addition where she united with the Progressive Baptist Church under the Pastorship of Rev. James Warren. 

She leaves to mourn her homegoing her mother, Lula Bauchaum, one son, Gary Moore Ray, a step-son, William McKnight, Gilmer, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Loyla Mae Fields, Marion City, California and Mrs. Ozie B. Davis of Fort Worth, Texas; 7 half sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Smith of Clarendon, Texas, Mrs. Margie Steveson, Marion City, California,  Mrs. Sallie Mae Jackson and Mrs. Jewel Hollins both of Dallas, Texas, Mrs. Nora White of San Rafel, California, Mrs. Retha Jones of Gilmer, Texas; 3 half brothers, Davis Jones of Clarendon, Texas, Vodie Bauchaum of Los Angeles, California and Hezekia Jones of California; one aunt, Mrs. Lucy Avery of Houston, Texas; one uncle, Dock Hollins of Longview, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends. 
(Passed away January 14, 1974.)

Casa Nora Mosby 

CASA NORA MOSBY was born in Gilmer, Texas, September 7, 1923 to the union of Edgar Hays and Lalar Hays. She united with Valley View Baptist Church at an early age. She completed her education at Valley View High School in Gilmer, Texas, and continued her education at Butler College, Tyler, Texas, there she received her AA degree. In 1952 Casa married Thomas Mosby. On Tuesday, January 30,1990, at approximately 7:05 p.m., Casa answered a call and made her transition at Saint Francis Hospital. Mrs. Mosby's career extended over 30 years as co-owner and operator of the Flamingo Club with her husband. 

Those who will cherish her memory are; a loving father and mother; one daughter, Brenda J. Higgins; one son, Steven Mosby of Los Angeles, CA.; one grandson, Joseph Hall; wife Valerie Hall; 1 great granddaughter, Shardei Hall, all of Los Angeles, CA.; 4 sisters: Lenora Vallery of Compton, CA; Constance Lee of Los Angeles, CA; Reba Pittman and Monie B. Garrett of Dallas, TX.; 6 brothers: Chester Hays of San Francisco, CA.; Edgar Hays, Jr. of Compton, CA.; Billy R. Hays of Lake View Terrace, CA.; Romeo Hays of Gilmer, TX; Johnny L. Hays and Elton Hays of Dallas, TX; numerous
in-laws, nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Thurman King 

July 19, 1918     December 31, 1993 

Thurman King was born July 19, 1918, in Gilmer, Texas, to the union of Felix and Otha Davis King. He united with the Valley View Baptist Church where he received his early religious training. Thurman met and was united in Holy Matrimony to Cecelia Gardner. To this union one son was born. 

Thurman was a graduate of Valley View High School, and went on to study at Bishop College in Marshall, Texas. Before graduation, he was called to serve in the United States Army (World War II), and was honorably discharged in January of 1946. Some of his most memorable experiences were those of Guadalcanal and Okinawa. 

He returned to Bishop College and graduated with a B. S. degree in Education. He taught at Valley View High School, was employed at Lone Star Steel Company, and Continental Can where he retired. 

Thurman's younger years of dedicated contributions consisted of B.T.U. president and financial secretary for Valley View Baptist Church, member of the Excelsior Lodge No. 10, W.P.A. worker, and many hours of community service. He even donated his time to building furniture and cabinets for 
Valley View High School. He answered the eternal summons Friday, December 31, 1993, at 3:20 p.m. 

He is survived by his son, Cornelious King and daughter-in-law, Debra King, of Gilmer, TX; a stepson, James Edward, of Dallas, TX; one sister, Erece D. King Jones, of Gilmer, TX; two brothers, Miles D. King, of Gilmer, TX., and Melvin King, of Amarillo, TX.; two aunts, Artie Nelson and Johnetta Smith; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Interment: Valley View Cemetery

Mrs. Jessie Lee Hardeman Edwards 

Mrs. Jessie Lee Hardeman Edwards was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hardeman, in Upshur County on May 9, 1920. 

She peaceful entered eternal rest on April 27, 1992, at her home. 

She united with the Valley View Baptist Church at an early age. She later united with the Snow Hill Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member throughout her life. She served on the Usher Board for many years. 

On June 4, 1939, she united in holy matrimony to Mr. Andrew Edwards. To this union four children were born. 

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Mr. Andrew Edwards of Ore City, Texas; four sons: Harold Edwards and Charles Edwards of Ore City, Texas, Herman Edwards of Daingerfield, Texas, and Raymond Edwards of Dallas, Texas; one stepson Dwight Edwards of Gilmer, Texas; one granddaughter, Latrina Finley of Hughes Springs, Texas: three grandsons, Bernard Edwards of 
Jefferson, Texas, Quinton Edwards of Ore City, Texas, and Carlos Bernard Edwards of Barksdale Air Force Base, Los Angeles, California: one great granddaughter, LaKesha Finley; two great grandsons: KaRon Finley and Kashad Simmons of Hughes Springs, Texas; two brothers: Albert Hardeman of Houston, Texas, and Raymond Turner; two sisters: Zella Mae Hart of Terrell, Texas and Eula Mae 
Ford of Ore City, Texas; two aunts: Libby Davis of Ore City, Texas and Lola (s/b Lalar) Hayes of Valley View, Texas; two uncles: Jesse Jones of Dallas, Texas, and Frank Hale of Greenville, Texas; two daughters-in-law: Imogene Edwards of Daingerfield, Texas, and Linda Edwards of Dallas, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Edna Durene Finch 

Mrs. Edna Durene Finch was born to the parentage of Jessie and Emma (Russaw) Jones, who both 
preceded her in death. She was born March 8, 1934 in Gilmer, Texas and she received her education in Gilmer, Texas. She united in marriage with Mr. John Lee Finch, Jr., of whom their first born son 
Eddie Lee Finch was born, both her husband and their first born preceded her in death. She later 
moved to Dallas, Texas, joined the Carver Heights Baptist Church, then the Allen Chapel Baptist 
Church and finally the Eastside Church of God in Christ, where she fellowshiped until her death. 

She had seven children of whom one preceded her in death. She is survived by 4 daughters, Bertha  J. 
Brown, Patricia A. Finch, Vickey L. Finch and Sandra D. McCoy; two sons, Larry P. Finch and 
Stanley L. Finch, all of Dallas. She is survived by sixteen brothers and sisters, Mrs. Blanchie Payne, 
Houston, Texas; Mrs. Patsy Roberson, Mrs. Tempie Jennings, Mrs. Trevenio Wathall, Mrs. Marie Jones, William Jones, Beverly Watts and Francis Alexander, all of Dallas, Ozie Jones, Jessie Jones, Dennie Jones, Mrs. Jennie Jones and  Mrs. Bobbie Hunt all of Garland, Hayard Jones and Nathaniel Jones, both preceded her in death. She has 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and special friends.

Mr. William H. Lewis 
"To everything is a season; a time to be born." Ecclesiastes 3:11. 

William "Henry" Lewis was born on July 1, 1930 to Symore and Jessie Brown Lewis in Gilmer, Texas, which is located in Upshur, County. 

"Whoever believeth"     John 3:16 
At an early age he was baptized and united with the Valley View Baptist Church in Gilmer, Texas. 

"When I was a child" 2 Corinthians 13:11 
He attended Piedmont Elementary, Center Point and later Valley View High School. 

"Present your body in living sacrifice." Romans 12:1 
He was inducted and then transferred into the Army Reserve in August 1953. He received his Honorable Discharge on August 17, 1959. He received the Korean Service Medal. Bronze Service Star, and United Nations Service Medal. 

"They shall be one flesh" Genesis 2:24 
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Mandy Lee Davis on January 25, 1954, To this union three children were born. 

"For this I do willingly" 1 Corinthians 9:17 
After marriage, Henry and his wife moved to Fort Worth in 1954. Shortly afterwards he attended the I. M. Terrell Technical Trade School and became a welder. He began employment at the Trinity Valley Steel Company and some years later worked at the Kraft/General Foods Company, Arlington Division. He worked there 20 years. Henry additionally served as shop steward and representative on 
behalf of the Teamsters Union 997. 

"Thy shall lie down and thy sleep shall be sweet" 
It was Wednesday, February 13, 1989, at 8:15 p.m., Henry heard a knock at his door, in Fort Worth, Texas. The Angel of silence then entered. 

He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Mandy Lewis; two daughters, Amanda Lewis Tennison, Beverly West Lewis; and one son William H. Lewis, Jr.; three granddaughters, Melissa, Muronica, Marquita; and a host of relatives and friends. 

Henry's father has preceded him in death, but he leaves behind his mother, Jessie Lewis of Fort Worth; four brothers; Celester Lewis, of Texarkana; L. J. Lewis, Raymond Lewis, and Norman Lewis; one sister, Ida Bell Cain, all of Fort Worth.
