SUNSET MEMORIAL PARK - UPSHUR COUNTY Anderson, Frances Blasingame GILMER - Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Frances Blasingame Anderson, 93, of Bettie, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2008. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 14, 2008, at Croley Chapel, with the Reverend Paul Knight and the Reverend Wayne McKay officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer. Frances was born November 8, 1914, in Bettie, to Alvin and Esther Blasingame. She was one of 12 children. Frances attended Union Hill High School and was valedictorian of the Class of 1932. She was a longtime member of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Bettie which she joined in 1927. On December 23, 1932, Frances married Lenos Henry Anderson of Burlington, Kan. Henry's oil field profession took them to many states, including New Mexico, Illinois, Wyoming, Utah and Louisiana. Their last years were spent in Prairieville, La. near their daughter, Juanita Bacala and her family. Frances became an active community member while living in Prairieville, La. She was a volunteer at the Fellowship Center for 16 years, and as a result, she was honored as the Ascension Parish Volunteer of the Year. Frances was also very active in the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Ladies Altar Society and Festival de la Prairie for which she received the Eagle Award. Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lenos Henry Anderson; infant son, James Henry; parents, Alvin and Esther Winn Blasingame; brothers, Dalton, Milton, Williams "Big," Thomas "Bug," Raymond "Buddy," Olan "Bit," Stanley and Alvin Jr. " Babe"; and a sister, Ruth. She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Bacala and son-in-law, Anthony Bacala Sr. of Gilmer; granddaughter, Debra Bacon and friend, Steve Spafford of Houston; grandson, Anthony Bacala Jr. and wife, Lisa of Prairieville, La.; and great-grandchildren, Allison L. Williams and husband, Bill of Portland, Ore., Andrew Bacon of College Station, Anthony Bacala III of Baton Rouge, La., Aaron Bacala of Prairieville, La., and Angelica Bacala of Prairieville, La. Surviving siblings are Carrie Blasingame Grantham of Bettie, her only sister; brother, M. N. "Brother" Blasingame of Lafayette, La.; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Elliott of Bettie. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. Frances praised the outstanding care provided by Dr. Ilanko Upendran of ETMC and Texas Helping Hands Home Health of Mount Pleasant. Special thanks to these wonderful professionals, Dr. Upendran, Patricia, Courtney and Nick. Special thanks are also given for the support of Dr. King and Jodie Patterson. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Texas Home Health Hospice of Longview or your favorite charity.
