Arnwine, Virginia Jones GILMER -- Services for Virginia Jones Arnwine, 77, of Gilmer, will be held 10 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2006, at First Baptist Church in Gilmer, with Dr. David Jenkins and the Reverend O.D. Oliver officiating. Burial will follow in Gilmer City Cemetery, under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. Mrs. Arnwine passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in Gilmer. The daughter of Roy and Vesta Wilson, Virginia Lee was born November 27, 1928, in Pattonfield community in Upshur County, Texas. After graduating from East Mountain High School in 1946, she went on to earn her degree in business administration from East Texas Baptist College, and later her master's in business education from North Texas State University. She was a gifted teacher whose career as an educator spanned 30 years at Gilmer High School in the areas of speech, English, and vocational office education. After retirement from Gilmer High School system, she served three years in the Marshall School system as a diagnostician. Talented in administration, speaking, writing, and music, she was a longtime, active member of the 20th Century Club, serving as a past president. She was also an active member of the Dahlia Garden Club. As a member of First Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school classes for more than 50 years, most recently in the Lydia and Rachel classes. It was in church that her deep appreciation for music was manifest in singing with the sanctuary choir, and on many occasions as a soloist for special events and funerals. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Futrell Jones in 1979; and her second husband, Bennie Arnwine in 2004. Mrs. Arnwine is survived by her daughter, Lesa Campbell and her husband, Hugh, Col., ret., of Marietta, Ga.; and her son, Roy Jones of Gilmer. Other family members include grandchildren, Caroline Wade of Simi Valley, Calif., and Annalesa Campbell of Orlando, Fla. Her extended family includes Kyle and Mary Miller of Grapevine, Pam and Chuck Johnson of Garland, Tammy and Wayne Fletcher of Farmington, N.M., Angie and Rick Autrey of St. Augustine, Fla., and Bryan and Hillary Arnwine of the Woodlands; as well as great-grandchildren, Wesley Johnson, Amanda Griffin, Jessica Miller, Emily, Sarah, and Molly Fletcher, and Joshua, Mitchell, and Allison Autrey. Pallbearers will be Dr. Tom Croley, Frank Gordon Jones, Dwain Ferguson, Jon Wade, Earl Fielden, and Kenneth Stewart. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Osborne, Bill Beisch, Gordon Finney, Jim Hines, Curtis Hart, Tommy Hill, Kenneth Steelman, Royce Hudgins, Everett Dean, Scotty Denson, Burba Denson, Wesley Wilson, Frank Breazeale, Gary Patterson, the Rachel Sunday School Class, 20th Century Class, the Dahlia Garden Club, and deacons of the First Baptist Church.
