FARRIS ARRINGTON 1926-2003 Contributed by Barbara Pollard Gilmer Mirror 2003 Funeral service for Farris Arrington, 76, of Gilmer were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 1, at Croley Chapel with Dr. David L Jenkins officiating. Burial was at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mrs. Arrington died Friday Aug. 29, at a Longview hospital. She was born Dec. 15, 1926 in Upshur County to Jessie and Getrude Hill. She was a retired nurse, having worked at the Ragland Fenlaw Hospital. After retirement she worked as a private care nurse in the new Gilmer Hospital. Mrs. Arrington was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW, a member of New Hope Baptist Church and was a lifetime resident of Upshur County. She is survived by her son, Randy Arrington of Gilmer; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Audean Coppedge of Gilmer; brother, B.W. Hill of White Oak; grandson, Bubba Harty of Gilmer; great- granddaughter, Sydney Harty of Gilmer; and several nieces and nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Arrington was preceded in death by her husband, Glynn P. Arrington, and by a grandson, Paul Harty. Pallbearers were Glenn Campbell, Bill Harrison, Y.A. Hill, Kenneth Johnson, Edward Thompson and Clyde Woolery.
