BAIRD HELD HERE SUNDAY Mrs. Surrelda Baird, 79, lifelong resident of Upshur County, died at her home in New Hope Community Friday. Services were held in Croley Funeral Chapel Sunday at 2p.m. Interment was in New Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Baird was married to E.L. Baird, who preceded her in death on Aug. 28, 1940. She had been a member of the Baptist Church since childhood. Surviving are six sons, B.C. and O.R. Baird of Route 3, Gilmer, T.E. Baird, Raymondville; J.D. Baird, Edinburg; and H.E. Baird, White Oak, and D.W. Baird, Houston; a daughter, Mrs. Bable Painter, Gilmer; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ezra Cox, Rhonseboro; E.W. Cox, Route 3, Gilmer; three sisters, Mrs. Pearlie McGee, Big Sandy; Mrs. Gertrude Hill, Route 3, Gilmer; and Mrs. Bessie Vessell, Route 3, Gilmer. The Rev. Glen Perry officiated at the service and the burial was in New Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers were E.D. Baird, Tom Baird, Larry Painter, Jerry Baird, Robert Baird, and Billy Fennell. Croley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
