Baird, Willie Lee "Pop" GILMER -- Services for Willie Lee "Pop" Baird, 89, of Big Sandy, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Union Grove. Burial will follow in Chilton Cemetery of Big Sandy, under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. Mr. Baird passed away Sunday, March 26, 2006, in Longview. He was born June 19, 1916, in Upshur County, to Homer Clay and Mary Orlena McDonald Baird. Mr. Baird was a welder, U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, and member of the Catholic church. He is survived by his wife, Betty Baird of Big Sandy; son and daughter-in-law, Gary "Squeaky" and Dian Baird of Big Sandy; daughters and sons-in-law, Monica and James Decuir of Big Sandy, Sherry Brown of Gilmer and Ricky Williams of Gilmer; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Johnny Johnson, Billy Johnson, Barry Baird, James Barrow, Eddie Lange and Coby Tipton. A rosary will be recited 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, March 28, 2006, followed by visitation from 7-9 p.m., at Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 3/28/2006.
