DIANA -- Services for J.L. Bates Jr., 87, of Ore City, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006, at First Baptist Church of Ore City. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery of Tyler. Arrangements are by Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home of Diana. Mr. Bates died June 14, 2006, in Tyler. Born March 19, 1919, in Truscott, he was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II, and retired from Exxon. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
