Services for Mr. Sam Barton, 77, of Gilmer will be held 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Reverend Andy Plunk officiating. Masonic graveside rites will follow at Hopewell Cemetery in Upshur County. Mr. Barton passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015 in Gilmer. 

He was born in Overton, Texas on February 25, 1938, to Arlie and Zela Christine Barton. Mr. Barton was the owner/operator of Tater Town Barber Shop and a member of the Bethesda Masonic Lodge #142 A.F & A.M. He was known locally as Tater the Clown in the Upshur County Yamboree. 

Mr. Barton is survived by his wife, June Barton; sons, Scott David Barton and Sonny Dart Barton; daughters, Shirra Dee Barton-Thomas and Sheila Denise Barton-Knapp; step-daughter, Theresa Gunn; brothers, Dale Barton and Gale Barton; grandchildren, Joshua Greco, Kyle Knapp, Kelsey Knapp, Keaton Knapp, Parker Knapp, Seth Barton, Gabe Barton, Brianna Thomas, Angelica Barton and Destiny Barton; step-grandson, Zachery Gunn and great grandchild, Ryker Knapp. 

Pallbearers for the service will be Todd Wood, Justin Farmer, Kyle Knapp, Parker Knapp, Seth Barton, Gabriel Barton and Chris Barton. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas.
