Funeral services for D. O. “Bud” Brown, 85, of Gilmer will be 1:00 p.m., 
Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with 
Bro. Wells and Bro. Holland Atchley officiating. Interment will be in 
Simpsonville Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas. Mr. Brown passed away on 
Thursday, August 29, 2013, in Longview, Texas.

He was born on June 29, 1928, in Upshur County, Texas to Otha and Minnie 
Lee Powell Brown. Mr. Brown served in the U. S. Marine Corps for 20 years 
retiring as a Gunnery Sergeant. He was a member of Simpsonville Baptist 
Church and a self-employed rancher.

He is survived by his wife, Theta Mae Brown of Gilmer; sons and daughters
-in-law, Dennie & Melanie Brown of Dallas, Texas, Darrel O. and Caroline 
Brown of Houston, Texas; brothers, Howard Loftis, David Loftis and Bill 
Loftis; grandchildren, Clayton Brown, Travis Brown, Jason Brown, Stephen 
Brown, Matthew Brown and Michael Brown.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his sister, Verna Faye Moses.

Pallbearers will be Dennie Brown, Darrell Brown, Clayton Brown, Travis 
Brown, Stephen Brown and Matthew Brown.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 30, 2013, 6:00 until 
8:00 P.M. at the funeral home..
