Climer, Jessie Frances GILMER -- Services for Jessie Frances Climer, 96, of Denison, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mrs. Climer passed away Saturday, April 1, 2006, at Homestead Nursing Home in Denison. Mrs. Climer was born November 22, 1909, in Cobden, Illinois, to the late Jack Youngkin and Georgia Gilbert Youngkin. Her father was a section foreman for the Katy Railroad. She grew up around the Bells area of North Texas. Jessie was valedictorian of the 1927 Bells High School graduating class, where she met Willie R. "Bill" Climer. She and Bill were married October 18, 1927, at the YMCA chapel in downtown Denison. She worked at the City of Dallas Public Health Clinic for nine years. She and Bill retired and moved to Gilmer in 1969. Preceding her in death were her husband, Bill; her sons, Alvin Eugene Climer and Willie Roy Climer Jr.; two sisters; and four brothers. Mrs. Climer is survived by her two sons, Frank A. Climer and wife, Joan, of Denison, and John R. Climer and wife, Ann, of Mesquite; and sister, Helen Touchstone of Gilmer. She had 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening, April 4, 2006, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 4/4/2006.
