Castleman, Ruben "Doc" GILMER -- Graveside services for Ruben "Doc" Castleman, of Gilmer, will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2007, at Hopewell Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Calhoun officiating. Born November 22, 1925, in Kilgore, Texas, he died Saturday, February 17, 2007. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served during the Korean conflict. He married Charlotte Moore on October 12, 1961, and she survives him. A retired self-employed machinist and dairy farmer, he was a member of First United Methodist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Andy and Brenda Castleman of Gilmer and Steve Castleman of Gilmer; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Clay Irvin of Gilmer, and Karen and Tommy Green of Gilmer; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Green, Thomas Green, Elizabeth Irvin, Stephanie Youngman, Hannah Irvin, Matthew Morgan and Ava-Claire Castleman; and one sister, Barbara Mitchell of Okmulgee, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Bates and Anna Louise Castleman; and one brother, Kenneth Castleman. Pallbearers will be Scott Green, Terry Erwin, William Gordy, Cleon Jones, Tommy Green, Thurman Cagle, Thomas Green, Travis Shipp and Clay Irvin.
