Phyllis Hermolene Cortez 
(January 6, 1927 - December 21, 2013) 

Graveside services for Hermolele Cortez, 86, of Big Sandy, Texas will be 
at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 23, 2013 at Grice Cemetery in Upshur County, 
Texas. Brother Michael Phillips will officiate. Arrangements are under 
the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mrs. Cortez passed 
away Saturday December 21, 2013, in Gilmer.

Hermolene was born January 6, 1927, in the Grice Community, to Hermon and 
Susie Gipson. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.

She is survived by her husband: Benny A. Cortez; sons: Eddie and James 
Davis; brothers: Tommy, Hoot and Ted Gipson; 6 grandchildren, 13 great 
grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
