GLADEWATER MEMORIAL PARK - UPSHUR COUNTY


A celebration of the life of Christopher Allen Carpenter, 26, of Gladewater, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 27, 2008, at Greggton United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jonathan Bynum and the Reverend Dow Harleston officiating. Interment will follow in Gladewater Memorial Park Cemetery, with honors by the Gilmer and Longview Fire Departments. Burial will be under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview.

Chris died Saturday, June 21, 2008, from injuries he received following a boating accident.

Mr. Carpenter was born December 13, 1981, in Longview, Texas, to Tem and Sandra Carpenter. Chris was a firefighter for the Gilmer Fire Department. He was also a student at North East Texas Community College EMT School.

The City of Gilmer Firefighters will serve as active pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Swank, Bo Berry, Robbie Eitelman, Robert Weddell, Chad Gilbert, Clay Powell and Ryan Frost.

Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bobby Glenn Allen; and twin brother, Corey Arbon Carpenter. 

He is survived by his parents, Tem and Sandra Carpenter of Baytown, Texas, formerly of Gladewater; brother and sister in law, Brandon and Tabi Bussey of Henderson, and their children, Garret and Gage Bussey; paternal grandparents, LaJuan Carpenter, and Temple and Emma Carpenter of Longview; maternal grandparent, Bertress Allen of Gladewater; uncles, Larry and Renee Allen of Gladewater, Ronald and Brenda Allen of Gladewater, and Steve and Cindy Carpenter of Longview; and cousins, Todd Steven Carpenter of Afghanistan, and wife, Alexandra of Fayetteville, N.C., April Nicole Weber and husband, Gary, and their son, Rhedd of Fayetteville, N.C., Jordan Fout of Gladewater, Morgan Allen, Ryan Allen, Will Allen and Brian Allen, all of Gladewater, and Lance Allen of Austin, Texas.
