Funeral services for Ruby Cox “Vivian” 90, of Gilmer, TX, will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, January 9, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Gilmer with Larry W. Osborne officiating and speakers Butch Ragland and Phillip Williams. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer under the direction of Croley Funeral Home. Mrs. Cox passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, in Longview, Texas. She was born on November 26, 1924, in Indian Rock Community, Upshur County, Texas to Willie Pink Vivian and Alpha Victoria Jordan Vivian. Mrs. Cox worked 43 years as an office nurse for Dr. Madison Ragland before her retirement. Mrs. Cox was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 65 years, James Edward Cox; sisters, Maril Oliver, Sallie Longest and Mary Jo Cobb; niece, Ann Oliver and nephews, William Vester Longest and William Elwinn “Bubba” Quinn. She is survived by son, Robert Louis Cox of Gilmer; sister, Billie Vivian Julian of Wills Point; nephews, Sid and Vick Longest and N. C. Oliver, Jr.; nieces, Genie Anderson, Sallie Huff, Elizabeth Smith, Beth Wright and Samantha Wright and dog, Bubba. Pallbearers for the service will be Brent Goudarzi, Steve Stewart, Butch Ragland, Marty Young, Louie English and Bob Lansdale. The Honorary Pallbearers are the Baylor Hospital Staff and the Old Gilmer Hospital Staff, Dr. Foster, Dr. Huff, Dr. Upendran, Dr. Buller, David Griffith, Frank Breazeale and Kenneth White. The family will receive friends Thursday, January 8, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
