Dacus, V. Carlton "Bud" GILMER - Services for V. Carlton Dacus, 82, of Gilmer, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, with the Rev. David Thornton and Bro. Larry Rice officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer. Mr. Dacus passed away October 14, 2007, in Tyler. He was born May 2, 1925, in Grice, Texas, to Robert Anthony and Mary Gladys Hicks Dacus. Mr. Dacus served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the DAV Post 204 in Gilmer, a member of New Hope Baptist Church and a home builder before his retirement. He is survived by his wife, Lois Dacus of Gilmer; daughters, Carlette Dacus of Lufkin and Reasey Jackson and her husband, Tim, of Pritchett; sister, Anne Blackston of Little Mound; grandchildren, Anthony Tutor, Jeremy Jackson, Nick Jackson and Jodi Jackson; and great-grandchildren, Blake and Zoey Jackson. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today, October 15, 2007, at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of East Texas, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, TX 75701; or to DAV Post 204 Gilmer, TX 75644.
