Davis Sr., George W. 

GILMER -- Services for George W. Davis Sr., 83, of Gilmer, 
will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2006, at New Hope 
Baptist Church, with Bishop E.R. Starling officiating. 
Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements are 
by Turner Bros. Mortuary. Mr. Davis died August 21, 2006, 
in Longview. Born March 17, 1923, in Gilmer, he was a U.S. 
military veteran, having served during World War II, steel 
industry worker, and Baptist. Survivors include his sons, 
Larry G. Davis, Earnest Davis, and George Davis Jr.; and 
daughters, Helen D. Fisher, Carolyn A. Davis, and Ruth E. 
Yamini. Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. today at the funeral 
home.
