Denton, Elsa Jeanne Darnell GILMER -- Services for Elsa Jeanne Darnell Denton, 79, of Gilmer, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gilmer, with Phillip Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery of Upshur County. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Ms. Denton passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2006, in Gilmer. Ms. Denton was born September 10, 1926, in Upshur County, to James Oscar Darnell and Viva Maude Myers. She was a critical care nurse and educator at ETMC-Tyler until her retirement. Ms. Denton lived in Gilmer for the last three years, was a member of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary in Gilmer, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ms. Denton was preceded in death by her father, birth mother and her mother, Audie Hail Thornton; brother, Jim Darnell; sister, Betty Black; and grandson, Christopher Michael Denton. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Alan and Virginia Denton of Gilmer, and David Lindsey and Laura "Jill" Denton of Wasilla, Alaska; sister and brother-in-law, Lou and Norton Lovell of East Mountain; brother-in-law, Bill Black of Gilmer; sister-in-law, Sheron Decker of Gilmer; grandchildren, Alan Denton, Angela Denton Moore, Matt Denton, Lindsey Michelle Denton, and David Scott Denton; seven great-grandchildren, Blake Kramer, Tyler, Mikenna, Breanne, Andrew, and Logan Denton, and Charlee Elizabeth Moore; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
