UPSHUR COUNTY - WILLOW OAK CEMETERY


Services for Carmelita Elms, 84, of Gilmer will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home with Bro. Holland Atchley officiating and Bro. Neal Thornburgh and Bro. Eric Trimble assisting. Interment will follow at Willow Oak Cemetery in Gilmer. 

The family will receive friends from 1-2p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2016 at the funeral home.

Carmelita was born September 27, 1931 in Houlton, Maine to Gerald and Inez Clair Stitham. She passed away June 25, 2016 in Gilmer.

Mrs. Elms was a resident of Gilmer for 65 years and was a member of New Way Country Church. She married Roland Elms on January 29, 1953 in Dallas, Texas.

Mrs. Elms was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Roland Elms; sister, Melissa Griffin.

She is survived by her daughter, Rolinda Shipp and son-in-law Rick; son, Ricky Elms and daughter-in-law Joni; Brother, Gerald Stitham Jr. and wife Pat; sister, Val Raven and husband Merle; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. 

Pallbearers will be Joshua Little, Chip Elms, John Gibbs, Alex Russian, Gerald Brewer, Mike Bridges, and Wayne Smith.
