Florence, McClelland Callaway June 30, 1948 The last rites of McClelland Callaway Florence were held at the Grice Baptist Church at 3:30 o'clock Wednesday, June 30.  The church was decorated with many flowers, symbols of his beautiful life sent by sorrowing friends and relatives. The processional was played by Grady Lansdale as the Rev J Wesley Smith and the Rev Obie Baker entered the church followed by the casket and the pallbearers; nephews of Mr Florece, Conrad, Edward, Neubert and Johnnie Mack Florence and Jimmy and Billy Wheeler; Nephews of Mrs Florence, Norman Milner, Raymond McKinney, Frank Grost, Jakie Moughan Schrum and Roger Elder Schrum. The Owen Quartet sang "Precious Memories" and Rev Smith offered prayer. McClelland Calloway Florence was born in the Glenwood Community on Dec 15, 1876; 71 years, 6 months and 14 days old at his death. He was the oldest son of the late Mr & Mrs W E Florence, pioneer settlers of the county. In 1907 he bought from W E Crosby the store at Rhonesboro of which he had been manager and operated it until 1922. The last nine years after he became ill, he and his wife lived with their brother and sister, Mr & Mrs Crosby Florence, Mack and Crosby married sisters. On June 30, 1905 he married Miss Grace Schrum. They had no children.  Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his death one sister, Mrs Eula Marshall, Long Beach, California; four brothers, Crosby Florence with whom he lived, Rhonesboro; C E and G L Florence of Gilmer, Dr R S Florence, Tyler.
