Gage, Jean Marie GILMER -- Services for Jean Marie Gage, 78, of East Mountain, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2006, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, with Dub Mowery officiating. Burial will follow in Hoover Cemetery in Upshur County. Born November 2, 1927, to Joe W. and Thursa Venn Johnson, in Abilene, Texas, she died Saturday, August 19, 2006, in Longview. She lived in Upshur County most of her life, attended Ming Chapel School, graduated from Union Grove High School in 1945, and attended one year at East Texas Teacher's College in Commerce. Since childhood, she was a member of Pritchett Church of Christ. A homemaker, she was a loving, devoted mother and wife, who for 25 years has provided tender care for her husband during his illness. She is survived by her husband, Delward C. Gage of East Mountain; three sons and daughters-in-law, Andy Gage of Houston, Darrell and Kathy Gage of Shady Grove, and Phillip and Dottie Gage of Gilmer; two daughters and son-in-law, Judy M. James, and Laura and Chuck Richmond, all of Gilmer; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kenneth Johnson of Gilmer. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jeff Johnson and T.J. Johnson; and sister, Jo Ann Watts. Pallbearers will be R.B. Watts, Bobby Lee Gage, Mike Sperier, Bruce Slaven, Terry Johnson and Jerry McKnight. No formal visitation is scheduled. Published in the Longview News-Journal on 8/22/2006.
