Geddie, Syble J.   	

GILMER - Graveside services for Syble J. Geddie, 86, of Gilmer, will be held at 3 p.m. 
Sunday, August 19, 2007, at East Memorial Gardens in Texarkana, Arkansas, with Billy 
Traylor officiating, and under the direction of Croley Funeral Home of Gilmer.

Born June 29, 1921, in the Homan Community of Texarkana, Arkansas, to John Albert and 
Fannie Lou Benton Riley, she went to be with her Lord who she loved and talked with 
daily on Thursday, August 16, 2007.

She married and reared her family there while working and retiring from the Kroger 
Company in Texarkana. A charter member of Hickory Street Baptist Church in Texarkana, 
Arkansas, she was a devout Sunday school teacher and choir member.

In order to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Billy Traylor, after her 
husband died, she became a Gilmer resident. This was the beginning of a new life of 
being a "Gilmer Buckeye," and she loved every moment of it! This enabled her to be 
close to all three of her grandsons and her precious great-grandbabies who she loved 
to hold. If you wanted to see her eyes light up, you only had to walk in the room and 
ask her about one of her pictures of her grandsons. Her day was made! Mrs. Geddie was 
a member of the Gilmer First Baptist Church, and she especially enjoyed the visits 
from the members who came to see her when she no longer could attend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Albert and Fannie Lou Benton Riley; her 
husbands, Burt Geddie and Oliver Franklin Lawler; younger brother, John Albert Riley 
Jr.; and her sister, Myrtle Rawlinson.

She leaves a treasure of children to carry on her good teachings and high ideals: her 
daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Billy Traylor of Gilmer; daughters, Lois Darlene 
Tiffin of Royce City, and Dorothy Helen Conley of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, 
Oliver Wayne Lawler and Kay of Conroe; 11 grandchildren, Debra Dee Lawler, Wayne 
Oliver Lawler, Cody Tiffin, Jeffrey Michael Traylor, Kurt Charles Traylor, Andrew 
William Traylor, Dianna Essex, Dee Dee Bulerez, Don Conley Jr., Danny Conley and 
Kenneth Conley; 10 great-grandchildren, Chelsea Lawler, Colton Michael Bunn, Jordan 
Michael Traylor, Jacob Matthew Traylor, Jaci Elaine Traylor, Grayson Davis Traylor, 
Mia Grace Traylor, Allie Elisabeth Traylor, Rylie Kate Traylor and William Charles 
Traylor; brother and sister-in-law, James William and Jetta Riley of California; and 
a very special cousin, who was like her sister and will always be in her heart, Lois 
Berger of California.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. this evening, August 18, 2007, at 
Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
