Godwin, Dorothy "Dot" GILMER - Funeral services for Dorothy "Dot" Godwin, 74, of Gilmer, will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 3, 2007 at Croley Chapel, with Buddy Montgomery officiating. Interment will be in Willow Oak Cemetery in Upshur County. Arrangements are under the direction of Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mrs. Godwin passed away Saturday, December 1, 2007, at a Tyler hospital. Mrs. Godwin was born July 15, 1933, in McCall Creek, Mississippi, to Elzey and Melinda Jones. She was a retired seamstress, had lived most of her life in Upshur County and was a Baptist. Mrs. Godwin is survived by her five daughters, Serita Threadgill of Bettie, Frankie Godwin of Gilmer, Sarah Tyler of Pine Tree, Janice Godwin of Bettie and Annette Stracener of Diana; brother, Edward Jones of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; four sisters, Mildred Martin of McCall Creek, Mississippi, Edna Mae Evans of Brookhaven, Mississippi, Jay Dell Martinez of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Elaine Martinez of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; nine grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, A.F. "Frank" Godwin in 2005. Pallbearers will be Ricky Champion, Ray Champion, Michael Godwin, Bobby Threadgill, Jamie Barber and Brittney Mosley.
