Hitt, Lola Faye GILMER -- Services for Lola Faye Hitt, 80, of Gilmer, will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2006, at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer, Texas, with the Reverend Lynn Hitt, the Reverend Ray Eastridge, and the Reverend Calvin Hancock officiating. Mrs. Hitt died Thursday, October 12, 2006, in Longview, Texas. She was born October 21, 1925, in Gilmer, to Clarence Wesley Barber and Cassie Davis Barber. She married William H. Hitt, and he preceded her in death in 1999. Mrs. Hitt was a member of Gilmer Baptist Church, and she served as president of the State Ladies Auxiliary Missionary Baptist Association of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, William Hoyle "Spooky" Hitt Jr. and Larry Dale Hitt; and brothers, James Wesley "Ecky" Barber and Joseph "Corky" Barber. Mrs. Hitt is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lynn and Patricia Hitt of Kingwood; daughter-in-law, Wanda Hitt of Longview; two grandchildren, Harold Hitt and Amanda Hitt; and one great-grandchild, Cole Hitt. Pallbearers will be L.O. "Potsy" Harris, Keith Barber, Sammy Whatley, Harold Hitt, Cole Hitt, and Kevin Jablonski. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Sounding Out the Word Ministry, 1823 Aldine Mail Rt., Houston, TX 77039.
