Horton, Frankie Gene

Services for Frank Horton, 80, of Gilmer, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, 
October 14, 2006, at Valley View Baptist Church in Gilmer, with the 
Rev. Fred McElroy and the Rev. Steve Jeffery officiating. Interment 
will follow in Valley View Cemetery. Arrangements are by East Texas 
Funeral Home. Mr. Horton was born October 9, 1926, in Sulphur Springs, 
and he died October 11, 2006, at his residence. He was a U.S. Marine 
Corps veteran, having served during World War II, and a longtime master 
brick mason. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Horton; sons, Frank, 
Jay, Fred, Bruce, Michael, Roger, and Marty; and daughters, Rhudale, 
Lanise, Doris, and Laura. Visitation will be 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the 
church.

Services for Frank "Papa" Horton, 80, of Gilmer, will be held 1 p.m.

Valley View community outside Gilmer, with the Rev. Stevie Jeffery 
and Fred McElroy officiating. Interment will follow in the Valley 
View Cemetery. Arrangements are by East Texas Funeral Home. Mr. 
Horton was born October 9, 1926, in Sulphur Springs, and he died 
October 11, 2006, at his residence. A member of VFW Post 6715, he was 
a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served during World War II, 
including the battle of Iwo Jima. He was also a longtime master brick 
mason. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Horton; sons, Frank Horton, 
Jay and Debbie Horton, Bruce Finley, and Michael Horton; stepsons, 
Fred and Laura McElroy, and Roger and Sam McElroy; stepdaughters, 
Rhudale Jones, Lanise Sharpless, and Doris and Marty Hoosier; 16 
grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 
11 a.m. - 1 p.m. today at the church.
