Handy, Charles M. DIANA - Funeral services for Charles M. Handy, 82, of Diana, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2007, at Walnut Creek Baptist Church in Upshur County. Interment will be in the Mattox Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Diana. Mr. Handy passed away on Friday, September 21, 2007, at a medical center in Longview. Mr. Handy was born July 15, 1925, in Etowah County, Alabama, to Herman and Edna Handy. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy, a member of the Ashland Masonic Lodge and retired from Lone Star Steel, where he was a foreman over No. 1 and No. 2 pipe mills. He was an avid gardener and accomplished A1 and A2 square dancer. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Bynum Handy; and his brothers and sister. Mr. Handy is survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Raeann Handy of Ore City, and Steve D. Handy of Gilmer; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeffrey Handy; and several nieces and nephews of Alabama. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
