CHARLIE JOHNSON Gilmer--Charlie Johnson, 89, of Livingston, died Sunday November 22, 1998 at his home in Livingston, Polk Co., Texas. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. today at Croley Funeral Home Chapel in Gilmer with Brother Bell officiating. Burial will be in Morris Cemetery, Upshur County. He was born June 29, 1909 in Upshur County, the son of Dock Johnson and Clarise Boutwell Johnson. He married Myrtie Dee Nation on Oct. 16, 1934 in Gilmer. He was a retired saw mill worker and had lived in this area most of his life. He was a Pentecostal. Surviving are is his wife of Livingston; Five Sons, Freddie Johnson, D.C. Johnson and Ronnie Johnson all of Livingston and J.D. Johnson and Emery Johnson, both of Leggett; five daughters, Hazle Cole of Silsbee, Clarsie Dee Tipps of Runge, Charlene Renfro of Camden, Ark., Mary Isham of Leonard and Frances Ann Ellis of Livingston; 33 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons Charles Rayford Johnson (1928-1934 New Hope Cem/Wood Co.) and Donnie Joseph Johnson (1948-1954 Morris Cem./Upshur Co.) Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
