GILMER- Funeral services for David W. Jones, 78, of Gilmer, Texas will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer with Bro. Charles Johnson and Jack Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Upshur County, Texas. 

Mr. Jones passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016 in Longview. He was born on August 30, 1937 in Odessa, Texas to Robert E. Lee and Edna Earl Brewer Jones. He married Betty Smith Jones on December 20, 1958 in San Diego, California. He served in the United States Navy and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gilmer and formerly a deacon at Rosewood Baptist Church. Mr. Jones was a retired building contractor. 

He is survived by his sons, Robert Jones and wife, Jamie O’ Hara, Joe Bob Jones, and Jack Jones and wife, Jennifer, all of Gilmer; daughter, Cindy Lindsey and husband, Doug of Austin, Texas; sister, Shira Isles and husband, Gary of Cypress, Texas; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. 

Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jones (2012) and sister, Janice Higgins. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Croley Funeral Home in Gilmer.
